Watched the LU-Princeton game today after watching HC women's golf team compete in the Princeton Invitational at the Springdale course. LU's played the Tiger's toe to toe in the 1st half, but their inept QB got picked off twice in the 2nd half and the Tigers also blocked a punt. LU defense really not bad although they gave up a 65 yard TD in the 2nd half. One of their lineman intercepted a pass and ran it in for a TD to make it interesting, but the onside kick was recovered by Princeton. The Tigers promptly moved down the field to the one and then nearly fumbled. They then ran out the clock. I noticed that the post-game handshake was perfunctory as TG seemed annoyed. Upon exiting the visitors side of the stadium, I heard one LU fan grumble--"We have a problem--a bad coach." Only 5,560 fans at sun-splashed Princeton stadium.

Could anyone tell by the lousy broadcast what his injury was or how it happened? My recollection was it was on the far sideline but before anything of substance discussed they said something like a Crusader was injured (who?) and literally between words they cut to a commercial; came back and said Jake was injured (nothing about type or extent of injury) and nothing more about it the whole rest of the game. He was never back into the game but seen in huddles standing (good sign) and holding his helmet. I suspect & hope the injury is minor in nature as we'll need him against Harvard. It was the first play of the second half. He pursued the ball carrier to the far sideline and kind of ran into a team at the end of the play while going for the tackle. Seemed like he was holding something between his hand and his elbow. So, not a concussion and not a leg injury which is good. But no real idea what happened. Seemed fine on the sideline. Not in any visible pain.

Just noticed today how many defensive starters we have on the punt team. Not sure if the same guys play every punt but the one where we recovered the fumble seemed to have several starters out there.

Not our strongest performance today. But says a lot about a team when they don't bring their A game and still win by 25. If we bring our A or even our B game against the Johnnies, we should be fine.

Colgate communications majors working as interns for extra credit in the production truck type cringe worthy!

Totally agree about the quality of todays TV production. I'm guessing it was a bunch of interns running the production. Ted Mack's Original Amateur Hour.

Counterintuitive to some, I like playing our longtime rival Colgate. Last week Yale. This week Colgate. Next week Harvard,. Then on to a PL schedule of Lehigh, Lafayette, Bucknell, G-Town and Fordham? Win or lose on the field this sked is a win for HC. Agree. They are not making new long time rivals. Colgate is as close to a peer in football I can think of off hand. As of a few years ago, our long-term football opponents by a wide margin were BC, Colgate, Dartmouth, and Harvard. BC is obviously off the table these days, but glad to see we're still playing Harvard and Colgate regularly. Don't know why the Green have disappeared from our schedule, but it's a shame.

I think Harvard is much better than Colgate but their first two games have been much closer than they should have been. I suspect we’ll get their A game.

Fordham has the best WR in the league with this Fotis kid. 13 catches for 320 yards and 4 TDs today. Against an FBS team that was presumably trying to stop him. Yikes.

Given the production it was hard to see the field and the Colgate pass defense. With that said, and given a decent amount of time for Sluka to release the ball, I am wondering why we didn’t try and stretch the field more often. It also appeared like we tried to have Sluka drop back and stay in the pocket more instead of rolling out
But again it was hard to see more than five yards down field so I have no idea if that is right

Our D is really good....the big plays Gate made today offensively were mostly very lucky or off the cuff so to speak....when we needed to, we completely shut them down.

A couple of posters mentioned field position. If I figured things correctly:
Colgate had 12 possessions and on average had 75 yards to go. Colgate started in HC territory twice, once on the HC 48 and once on the HC 39.
Holy Cross had 13 possessions and on average had 55 yards to go. HC started in Colgate territory four times - on the Colgate 27, 20, 8, and 40
Huge advantage for HC and that’s how we dominated the scoring without dominating total yardage

The pass defense still seems very susceptible to the deep ball against a team that can throw the deep ball. But maybe we’ll play differently when we see a good passing team.

The T&G article seems to have been penned by someone who watched the game on ESPN+. The T&G certainly didn’t spring to send a reporter to Hamilton. And I’m pretty sure WTAG doesn’t carry the games on the radio anymore. So yeah, the reporter had to watch the abysmal broadcast on ESPN+ like most of us in order to write the “article.”

I wonder if Laffy's D will give us trouble. They did a nice job limiting Penn, who handled Colgate last week. Lehigh seems to have had a decent showing against Princeton The Lehigh game wasn't as close as the score. Tied at the half but Princeton outplayed them by a large margin in the second half. Penn is at best the 4th best team in the IL. Just saw the highlights. Spot on. I wonder if people look at our game and think, "gee HC dominated again." We have a good amount to work on this week! On to Hahvahd. Didn't think SHU could score that many points in 3 games let alone 1 game against. Dartmouth team picked neah the top of the Ancient Eight

One week got shut out at home to Columbia and then dominated Princeton the next week. I got the Big Green at Yale in a couple of weeks. Also have Princeton at Yale/Harvard and Columbia at Harvard.

Remember you could be Chestnut Hill University and be down 31-0 at halftime to Florida State. Remember, Chestnut Hill University was supposed to be good this year.
