Simmons should DEFINITELY take the challenge.
He complains so much about HC sports. Here's his chance to share in a special moment.

Not so sure he'd do anything on an ESPN platform, or if they'd allow him...he should do a Manning-cast type podcast in real time during game though.

Did not know he was on the Board, maybe wasn’t at the time, or that he headed the athletic committee). I would have been nicer too him!😂

Kit may have been extending an invite to join the student broadcast on WCHC 88.1 FM, from where Simmons called the final game of the 1991 undefeated season.

Does WCHC broadcast games? Can they? That would be cool if they did

Does WCHC broadcast games? Can they? That would be cool if they did My classmate Ryan Holt '10 had an iconic call on Jimmy Thomas title clinching sack of Rob Curley against Lafayette in '09. He used to post on the old board -- many would've known him as "Holty". HC87/Sader87/ihoop -- you were on radio during the Carter and early Duffner years right?

I helped Holt cut his teeth and he eventually went pro broadcasting in hockey. I listened to that game in '09 while in the car driving near campus (had an obligation that kept me away from attending the game). At least WCHC sported a suit when broadcasting when I ran the gig!

I do not know how long he has been on the board, but BoT appointments are generally for four years, which can be extended. I believe eight years is the maximum. Forced to guess, I would think this is his third year on the BoT.

Yes did football and men's hoop from '85-'87 on WCHC. Really fun times....did a lot of football road games in '86 and '87 which was a blast. I also did little one-minute or so recaps of games for WTAG, which paid the then princely sum of $25 which came in handy for a struggling college student then What became of Holty? Last I heard he was working for that Bakersfield pro hockey team.

He is Director of Media Relations for the Bakersfield Condors: linkedin.com/in/ryanaholt/ We don't stay in close touch but we are LinkedIn "buddies." I occasionally suggest to him coming back to Crossports. Guess he's too busy or just lurks.

Back in the day, at WCHC, several people wore green blazers, with a WCHC Radio, Holy Cross patch, similar to ABC Sports or CBS Sports. I still have my WCHC patch.

Confirmation- he is still with Bakersfield and here's a link to his blog on the team's website:

Follow Holty on Twitter and you'll get some highlights and recaps of his calls. He seems to have adopted the, "in OOOOOOOOOOVERrrtiiiime" trademark. Doing what he loves, gotta be happy for him.

Would love to see a picture of it if you have it handy. Unfortunately the picture does not have a URL tag. I tried to paste it into both a PM and the general forum. Send me a PM and we can determine a way to send you the picture of the WCHC RADIO Patch.

Lean years for hoop, those were. Football had to be a lot more fun. Same as today... The only comparison between then and now was the stretch of 85-86 when Jim McCaffrey couldn't play because of a severely sprained ankle: and HC was basically putting a team of freshmen out there. No full season was as bad as the last few.
