Malik Lofton listed on the depth chart. Malik is listed as an “or” after being starter all year. I still think the premise of innocent until proven guilty plays here. As well as the whole story or at least from what has been speculated. I won’t go into details but if what I heard is remotely true almost any sane person would see there was no wrong doing. If Stig and staff along with SDSU athletic admin are suiting him up that’s good enough for me. The “good news” point of the post is the potential return of starting all world MLB Adam Bock from injury. Against UND in the first drive he suffered a lower leg injury(not a sprain) and has been out since. Backups have performed well but there’s no substituting what Bock does on the field…much like HCs Dobbs I believe.

On the HC depth chart Fuller is listed, but there is an “Or Tyler Purdy”; Confusing ? is Jordan available ? The rest of the 2 deep seems in tact

Credit to Prof. Chaos again for the stats compilation. I do want to add a couple of categories to the breakdown.
| Holy Cross | SDSU | Blocked Punts | 6 (1) | 0 (T-L) | Blkd Punts Allow | 1 (50) | 3 (T-106) | Blocked Kicks | 8 (2) | 2 (44) | Blkd Kicks Allow | 1 (19) | 5 (110) | Turnovers Gained | 23 (12) | 22 (18) | Turnovers Lost | 6 (1) | 10 (8) | Turnover Margin | +17 (1) | +12 (5) | Team Sacks | 1.75 (81) | 2.67 (18) | Sacks Allowed | 2.00 (62)
| 1.42 (23) | Net Punts | 37.26 (31) | 35.50 (62) | Punt Defense | 7.0 (52) | 10 (80) | Punt Returns | 6.2 (75) | 8.27 (48) | Kick Returns | 21.7 (29) | 17.7 (94) | Kick Ret. Defense | 19.0 (46) | 21.4 (82) |
I think special teams can really help Holy Cross with field position. We've talked about needing a near-perfect game turnover wise (and getting 2+ turnovers) but I think a blocked kick or punt will go a long way. We have the size on our line to match SDSU, but one thing that has bothered me all season is our sacks given up. Laffy bottled up Sluka with Hamm. We also don't seem to get enough pressure, even against Fordham. I like the pressure we got on Brosmer last week, so perhaps our D is heading in the right direction. Great stuff, one other stat to consider is strength of schedule. HC SOS according to Massey is 76, whereas SDSU is at 4. Does it matter Saturday? No, game is decided on the field but in comparing stats side by side it is pretty telling too.

The rest of the 2 deep seems in tact I feel like that is as close as we get at HC to an "injury designation" that the NFL puts out each week. I know some teams use the -OR- designation when there are rotations, so I am not sure about reading to much into it. Wish there was an -OR- Jacob Dobbs underneath Bolden!

Not to open old wounds, I do like you Jacked and all our other SDSU posters, did Stig serve a suspension for his DUI back in 2018? I wonder how this unfortunate incident has influenced him as a coach with regard to discipline, mentoring, etc. Could have been an interesting wake-up call. It could also have literally nothing to do with potential discipline for Malik. I don't know enough about the arrest, but second degree petty theft for under $400 is small peanuts. That being said, I think it does go to character and decision making. Will be interesting to see how it plays out. 1 game suspension? Back for the presumed game vs. Montana State or W&M? (From an HC fan perspective, a 1 game suspension for a Wabbit is season-ending!)

The Twitter comments seem to indicate that it has something to do with a self checkout at a Walmart so I am willing to give the kid the benefit of the doubt if the coach is willing to do so. There is likely video of the incident. I have had clients (espcially those of color) tell me that they don't use self checkouts for fear of false accusations. I can also tell you that I have represented people charged with shoplifting at Walmart and that they are quite aggressive about having people arrested and seeking orders that they not return to the store. (I have always had a bit of a moral crisis about using self checkouts as they eliminate jobs (inc. union jobs at Stop and Shop where I do some of my shopping) but since employers can't hire enough cashiers any more, I feel less guilty lately. My local IGA only has cashiers so I feel a bit better there.)

That said the athletic admin is on top of things. Stig is 26 years in as Head coach with several more prior as coord and specialist coach. He is a leader and I trust whatever decision made regarding Mr Lofton is the right one. Malik is consistently on the deans list and academic honor roll…I'm sure that will have some impact too.

Received a few inches of wetter snow overnight, the field will be ready for a Crusader walk through later today though. Should be upper 20s at gametime warming to mid 30s with sun.

I don't know John Stiegelmeier as well as our SDSU friends, but based on what I've seen of him during games (demeanor on sidelines, interviews) and during press conferences, he gives off the impression of being a humble, low-key, and first class kind of guy.

Many urban merchants are closing their doors as a result. My local Home Depot has all tools and any merchandise worth more than $50 locked up. There are gangs of thieves out there hitting multiple outlets every day. Hate to see any college kid get jammed up. But today the pendulum has swung too far in favor of the criminal on these larceny cases and the victim be dammed.

But if charged improperly, it could be Malik who is in fact the "victim." If the coaches agree and the school allows him to play (since he is "innocent until proven guilty") I do not have a problem with that. How bad have things become? In one of our local Malls there are now armed guards standing outside of store display windows. If taken into custody (as in NYC), accused offenders are released with no bail and are back on the street before police even finish the case paperwork. When disorder rules in this way, there are no real winners.

Getting back to football, although there was a smash and grab on the news last night, I had some TE thoughts. I was just sitting talking to a few football alums from the school I teach at. One of my former students, a TE, entered the portal from Michigan this week. Our conversation drifted to TE usage, systems, packages, etc. The top two TE's in receptions in the NFL, Kelce and Andrews, both play for teams with dual-threat QB's (Mahomes is probably less of a runner now than when he entered the league). The QB scrambles, and more often than not the TE is able to get open vs. a LB or a nickle-back. I am surprised, based on these observations, that Sluka doesn't rely on our TE's more on broken plays, etc. On the flip side, we have had difficulty covering big TE's like the guy from Bryant and from UNH. Lined up either on the line or in the slot, sometimes our coverages get confused, particularly if there is also a slot wideout with him. The UNH TE was essentially uncovered a couple of times. The height of the SDSU TE's and the number of targets thrown to them concerns me a bit.

It should be pretty easy to figure out whether or not Malik stole anything from the store he was shopping in.
Does he have the receipt?
If not, did he pay with a credit / debit card, which would prove he paid for the items?
All self-checkout areas have cameras directly filming the person checking out. If he paid, there’d be a record of it.
The fact he’s listed on the depth chart leads me to believe he is dressing for the game. I hope, for his sake, this was a stupid misunderstanding.

I avoid self checkout because I tend to just hear the machine constantly yelling at me to put my scanned items in the baggage area, even if they are there...plus if purchasing any adult beverages you have to wait until someone notices your blinking light to come check your ID. At Home Depot, on the other hand, I am all about the self checkout

Our local Walmart is nearly exclusively self-checkout. They converted the regular lines to self lines two years ago or so and very rarely now do they have a regular cashier. The machines do have cameras but it appears 50/50 if they are actually working on a given day.
Back to the game, another stat that I forgot to mention earlier is Redzone TD%. I am surprised to see HC is only at 63%. Anytime we get close we have to put up points. Just look at the last HC vs SDSU game discussed earlier this week. We'll see!

For those in the Boston area, don't look for a story about the biggest college football game played by a New England team in years in this morning's Globe (aka The Boston Pravda). The bow-tied bum-kissers there can't be bothered with our game tomorrow (where's Shaughnessy??). There is a so-so article in the Herald - largely noting Chesney's comments re: the completeness of the SDSU team.
Let's go undefeated tomorrow!

This has been an ongoing issue for years including with prior regimes. We recruit several TEs every year that receive plaudits on our football threads but we rarely throw to them. The TEs can be effective weapons. The next time Coach Ches talks to Bill Belichick he should focus on this area as Gronk was a great weapon for them. Go Cross!

I have not used an ATM since I learned the receipt you get for any deposit has no value at all. The bank can tell you you deposited less (or spent more) and there is little or no recourse.

I certainly have always used ATMs, at least in part because the bank is open relatively infrequently and often nowhere near where I am. (Different gripe: I don't like paying the extra fee for using another bank's ATM. There is no way that it costs either bank $3 or more to process the transaction. ) I just want people to have jobs and try to be supportive of that when I can.
