Two undefeated teams. Mass. must be a basketball hot spot.🙂 HC has no players from the Bay State while B.U. has three.😒
I think on average you should be able to recruit a little better talent closer to home if your institution has a good reputation in your local area. A kid should value his or her grandparent telling him or her that Holy Cross is a good school over a recruiter from UIW saying how good that school is.
Perhaps for recruits from NJ and PA, MA and "the Boston Area" is just far enough away we get the same slight hometown discount as from MA players like Sherry Levin, Lauren Manis and Amy O'Brien. And maybe we suffer an extra burden with some local recruits who want to go away to school.
When a school is in sync with and a positive part of the community, which I think HC wants to be, having some local players to cheer for and follow should help.
HC has benefited from star athletes like Cousy, Palazzi and Lockbaum from out of state who have put down roots locally and been positive representatives of HC over the years. So it works both ways and I'm rooting for our non local roster to stop the Terriers in the big February 15th showdown.

Shaping up to be another "Fordham and we" clash between two undefeated PL titans if both teams can keep it going.

This week's NCAA NET ranking (primarily used for tourney evaluation) has HC at 137 and BU at 139 (out of 361) All of PL teams 200 +

Of the teams HC has defeated, only one (Northeastern) is inside the top 200 at 138. Interestingly, Vermont which defeated us at home by 30 is listed at 144. If we win the PL, looks like a 16 seed.

As things stand right now, HC would definitely not be a 16 seed. Not with their NET. Charlie Creme's ESPN bracketology has them as a 14, which seems about right. It's been well over a decade - except for the covid year - since a PL team got a 16 seed. Average in recent years has been more like a 14. Bucknell a few years ago was a 12 seed.

If HC gets nosed out by BU for the regular season crown/NIT auto bid and nosed out by any team in the PLT finals/NCAA auto bid but ends up the season with only six or seven losses, what's the chances of an at large bid to either of these tournaments (NIT would seem more likely)? If no bid to either major tournament, as a fan I would like to see this young team go to a minor tournament and try for some hardware. But the players might want a rest.

My bad on the 16th seed prediction, although 14 seems high given our weak PL opponents and weak schedule. If we don't win the PL regular season title or tournament, I think our only option is one of the minor tourneys which I think we would accept. However, I think we will win one of these, and, perhaps both.

Longsuffering: Chances are good for WNIT. There are auto-bids for the teams that are the next-highest finishers in their conference's regular season that do not get a NCAA Tournament bid.
