Every Autumn in churches both Catholic & others across America there is a Blessing of the Animals service in memoriam to the magical St. Francis of Assisi . It demonstrates the oneness & love of God's creation. I witnessed this service at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine many years ago. It was quite moving. Don't know but I think it would be great if HC had an annual Blessing of the Animals at St. Joseph Chapel. I honestly believe it would be an extremely popular draw for students & other stakeholders. There is so much to this service of love. The outcomes in so many directions on so many different levels would be wonderful. Shouldn't HC try it?

I hve taken our pets to the blessing at our Church. Nice ceremony and all went away renewed...especially the pets. I would like to see it at HC. IMO it couldn't hurt...but, its not "magical" IMO.

Dear friend RGS, Agreed. The blessing service was not a magical hocus pocus or a magician's act but in the broadest most loving sense of awe of God's love of all His creation. Francis of Assisi gave witness to the "magic" of God's love in his creation. In Wonderment, Peace.

Difficult logistically.
Maybe faculty and staff could participate, but I don't think many students would have access to animals while at school

My Fitton Field/Hart Center cutout guy would love it.

A role for the students could be to pair up with folks who bring their animals and to assist them. The PR of this would apply to members of the Worcester public more than to the students.

Maybe HC could engage the entire community - vets, farms, etc.Are there any petting or children's zoos in the area. Call St. John the Divine or some other church in the area and find out how they do it. No sense in reinventing the wheel. It would take a large effort but it would be a wonderful way to bring the community together. And, if it worked out it could very quickly become an HC-Worcester tradition.
