Is anyone troubled over our seeming inability to recruit a transfer There are a few different reasons why Holy Cross will continue to struggle to get transfers.

There are multiple reasons why this is a slow or very slow process. It is being worked on, but we all know recruiting an established big without significant NIL support is, at best, complicated. If you want to support it, please go to the 1843 website and join at any level!! This next class is going to be very strong for HC basketball, but we still need more. While Verbal Commits has our player ratings at 3.56 we havent been higher than 2.1 for the last decade-- so put your seat belt on- help us sign a big and a 6'6 athlete and lock down defender!

Is anyone troubled over our seeming inability to recruit a transfer I'm assuming we don't have (or aren't offering) the $15k minimums that's seemingly required to get transfers.

Seton Hall has 8 players in the portal.

Simple explanation- NIL dollars not enough to retain your best players - very sad for a proud program like the Hall to be threatened by the escalating NIL

I read this as saying he will enter college in September and as of January, 2024 he was committed to Gardner Webb. Perhaps he has entered the pre-enrollment portal or he entered college in January and is in the real portal already?

Coaching change at Gardner Webb. Their coach took the job at Western Carolina in March, which means that Easterling was released from his LOI.

Kyrell is getting farther and farther away from his home base in Boston. Longwood is in Farmville, Virginia (can't make this stuff up) and was founded as the Longwood Female Seminary. It has an 88% acceptance rate. You do not need to prep at Roxbury Latin School to get in.
BN should have reviewed the RP, jr. route from playing HS ball in Boston to starring at Holy Cross to a great business career in Boston during the recruiting process for Luc. But would BN even have been aware of HC BB history to that extent?
I hope Longwood is in a similar competitive space as HC to allow Luc to shine for the next two years. He is an exciting player at the right level of play.

Does he even have 2 years? One at HC. 2 at SBU...doesn't have the Covid bonus year, right?

My bad. I didn't think he had been gone for two full seasons. I think Longwood is a good choice basketball-wise. With a good season he could have international opportunities. I have to figure staying at HC would have been best basketball-wise because when you start as a freshman the coaching staff puts you and your strengths and weaknesses into future schemes. They know if they scheme around you, there will be 'splaining needed.

this is a huge deal for the league if he follows through on it.

Ouch! It's almost like you don't want any of your young players to be too good. I was going to add if you are a low major program but that applies to mid majors as well.

this is a huge deal for the league if he follows through on it. This is huge, indeed. I’m guessing he figures he can score some meaningful NIL $$$ at another school looking for a proven point guard

We shall see what his options will be in the days ahead- Colgate was in the process of building an NIL for football, but I don't know about basketball. The high majors and the top level of the mid-majors will offer significant dollars, but I am betting the other levels will remain at a modest level of funding two years from now.

This stinks.
It's almost like -- Be good, but not TOO good so you feel compelled to transfer to cash in on an NIL deal. And, be just good enough so you play as an underclassmen so you don't want to transfer, but also be a late-bloomer so we can get four years out of you.
College basketball sucks.
