I have never been to a collegiate tennis match before, but I decided to attend yesterday afternoon at the subterranean courts at Jadwin Gym as I saw HC was the opponent. The Tigers played a strong Northwestern team at noon, and then took on the Crusaders at 4:00. A couple of the PU players played in both events. With the Tigers ranked #64, the outcome was predicable--a 7-0 result in favor of PU. The best HC result a 6-3 set in one of the singles. The guys played hard but were clearly not in the same league, even to my untrained eye.
It was an intimate gathering of spectators. I had the pleasure of re-connecting with another local alum who proudly showed me a reprint of a photo of him in the 1965 Purple Patcher when he was on the tennis team. It was pleasant afternoon, despite the outcome.

Curious scheduling - that matchup is comparable to our bball team playing at Kansas Tigers players could have won with one hand tied behind their backs
Our program has a long way to go - and has been simply terrible for over 30 years

Don’t know the last time that the men’s tennis team had a winning record. May go all the way back to 1970 when one of our posters combined with John Mayotte and John Hughes to secure an NCAA tournament bid only to have their appearance cancelled in the aftermath of Kent State.
