Iona did not offer Pitino the extension he desired. He is done there. He would take St.John’s in a heartbeat. Will the Vincentians put on the blinders that the Christian Brothers of Ireland(or whatever their new name is) did not ? The brothers running Iona are no choir boys. They did hire RP knowing his background. The Iona decision not to extend RP sounds more like a money issue than a moral issue. Sensible. Rick's not the same value to Iona at full price.

I'm assuming you mean Marquette, who's very good this year. VCU Shaka Smart = Elite Texas Shaka Smart = Not Elite Need more than 1 year to give him the BBC official Elite seal of approval again. Does he want that seal? We know that seal of approval may occasionally go to a sub-standard product 😋

You've certainly shown yourself to be right on the money when it comes to evaluating coaches. Maybe they should fire Mike Anderson first - not like we're talking about a Brett Nelson resume in his case.

Pitino may prefer St Johns and it’s a much better fit for him. Better Italian restaurants in NYC than DC, to boot. Try the veal

Gregorio’s Trattoria is a sponsor and advertiser for the American University games, has anyone dined at that establishment?

He’s kept his nose clean at Iona so I don’t see why St John’s wouldn’t hire him at this point to revive their program.

St. John's fired Coach Anderson today. The table is all set for RP.

This sounds like Georgetown to me. Or a good way to get a raise from PC.

I think Cooley stays at home, probably with another raise Penn State coach makes more sense.

Don't see anything about Georgetown that would attract Cooley, unless PC is incredibly cheap

I really wanted Pat Ewing to succeed. Been a fan of his since the Cambridge R & L days.
I think Georgetown's time in the sun has officially set. Big East bottom dweller for the foreseeable future.

^^^^ Georgetown did something peculiar in 2022. They received what is in effect an $800 million dollar loan from their utility provider. They plunked the $800 million into their endowment , which resulted in the endowment's value growing by a third. Probably the largest percentage increase of any university endowment last year.

Actually, I was comparing endowment growth among PL schools, several Jesuit institutions, etc in 2022 to see how HC did comparatively., and Georgetown's nearly 33 percent growth was simply jaw-dropping. Like if GU basketball had an undefeated season and the average margin of victory was 60 points. It took a bit of digging in the financial notes to uncover this sleight of hand.

Those here who refer to Rick Pitino as “a despicable human being “, “vile”, “horrible person “ are probably first in line for Communion every Sunday.

When Rick asks for forgiveness for his misdeeds, I will gladly extend forgiveness. Did that happen and I just missed it? Does anyone going to Communion make what he did right? I don't think so. I also don't think the order in which one receives Communion confers more or less grace...but that does not fit with what seems to be an attempt to whitewash the reputation of Coach Pitino.

Wow. I’m impressed he has to ask you for forgiveness. In case you missed it, the seat at the right hand of the Father is already taken.

Wow. I’m impressed he has to ask you for forgiveness. In case you missed it, the seat at the right hand of the Father is already taken. Of course I was not speaking about him asking "me"...but you knew that so the sarcasm was clear, and pretty weak. You may not have Enbglish as your first language, but I said "ask for forgiveness" and you may not understand what that means. It does NOT mean to ask it of me, so the rest of your post is simply BS, showing little knoiwledge of Christianity or of me. That's OK, I forgive you.
