Massey has BU as a 7 point favorite (64-57) and gives them a 70% chance for the win. He ranks BU (23-7) at #141 and HC (23-8) at #177. No pressure. As of today (Friday) HC now ranked #171 (up 6 places) and the likelihood of a BU win has dropped to 69%.

BU projects to be a 14, I would think that would make HC a 15 if they prevail. A couple of conference tournament upsets in one bid leagues might help whoever wins Sunday move up or at least sink no lower than those numbers.

That is good to hear. HC is now playing with "house money."

Best part is loser still gets WNIT I thought that a regular season champ that loses in the league tourney gets an auto-bid to the NIT. No?

If we beat BU, there’s a pretty good chance we get UConn in a 2-15 matchup in Storrs. Hope Geno’s not still mad about the circumstances of his friend BG’s unceremonious exit from HC.

That is good to hear. HC is now playing with "house money." Kit did not win a bidding contest for a home WNIT game last year like the two interim ADs did with the Sacred Heart FCS home game. Any confidence he'd take the iniative this time if we unfortunately are in the WNIT again instead of the big dance?

If the #3 seed Lehigh beat #2 seed HC last night, but lost to BU in the final, who goes to the WNIT? I assume Lehigh not #2 seed HC but it depends on how the second best team is defined.
I think the finals loser is in reality the second best team at the end of the season. Even though Holy Cross was the second best team in FCS this fall.🙂

Seven teams already invited including UMass (still a possibility that it will receive an at large bid to NCAAs, however).

For the WNIT: it invites the next-highest regular-season finisher in a conference’s regular season that was not selected for the NCAA Tournament. Then the WNIT sends out invites to a number of at-large folks until its field is filled.

And why would the WNIT leave money on the table? If a school wants to place a higher than "market value" on a home game, why not let them?

So, the WNIT honors regular season accomplishment while the NCAA tournament honors league tournament accomplishment. Fair and Balanced.

The WNIT is owned by Triple Crown Sports, a Fort Collins, CO. company specializing in grass roots event promotion and amateur sporting competitions. It has never been owned by either the (until 2005 independent) NIT or the NCAA.

Ironically the NCAA tournament has no such protection and that inefficient process generates a good chunk of the fan interest in league tournaments and the first few rounds of the big dance. Everybody roots for the Cinderellas and for midnight and the pumpkin to never come.

True, but nearly not so much on the women's side. Tends to go a little more caulk in the earlier rounds, occasional upset, but likely in the mid-seed games. No #14 seed has beaten a #3 and no #15 seed has beaten a #2 seed, and of course only 1 16 (Harvard) has beaten a 1. Unfortunately, parity just doesn't exist on the women's side, the depth of talent is still not there.

Absent the possibility of a home WNIT game, last night was the last game at the Hart for Addie Cross. Very, very happy for her. What a great twisting drive to the basket for a score she made.
