CBS offered Dick Vitale the opportunity to call one Big Dance game this month. He declined citing his loyalty to ESPN. Nice gesture by CBS.

Thank Goodness for the mute button when he's on. As Wilt once said ' I don't need someone telling me what's happening when I could see it". I just turn on the reel to reel.

A number of years ago Dick was the featured speaker at the annual “Salute to Catholic School Alumni” fundraising dinner. His speech consisted of maybe 3 or 4 sentences. Of course they were run-on sentences and he held us in thrall for a half hour. He was very funny, very entertaining and with a good message as well. He donated his speaker’s fee to the Jimmy V Foundation. Jimmy V’s brother Bob was head coach of Bellarmine here in the Ville fir some years.

Dickie V. is needed in MA. Mt. Alvernia, a century old Catholic girls grade 7-12 school in Newton just announced they are closing. The announcement was made on International Women's Day.

The property will fetch a fortune if it's made available (not sure how those things work when it's land owned by a non-profit).

The Nuns who run the school own the property and can use the proceeds to provide a new smaller home and eldercare, I presume. I wonder if BC will aquire it like they did Newton College of the Sacred Heart?
