Back to the collaborative program at HC. I think the 3+2 program with WPI was in effect when I was at HC but very very few participated as I recall. There were also students who took a course here and there at a Worcester consortium school.
So I’m wondering if we’ll eventually see a good number sign up for the new collaborative program or if it’ll remain a very small initiative. (The theory that bright engineering types might consider HC thanks to the new initiative is one worth exploring.)

"Initial M.S. and M.Eng. degree programs at WPI participating in this partnership are mechanical engineering and electrical and computer engineering, with more offerings in computer science, mathematics, physics, neuroscience, business and sustainability to be available in the near future." [emphasis mine] www.wpi.edu/academics/business/graduateExcept for covid eligibility, Isn't PL still undergrads only league like IL the old? 3/2 engineering program were dual batchelors (BA HC 3 yrs BS Columbia/WPI/Dartmouth 2yr in residence) awarded after 5 yrs That won't be a factor here. If an athlete is in the program and has some sort of redshirt allowing him/her to play that 5th year. they would be competing in the NEWMAC, not the PL

I apologize if I missed it, but is the 3-2 Engineering Program with Columbia still a viable option for students?

The 3-2 program made way more sense to me back when it was run with WPI

Wonder if Vince kept the house in Weston. Hell of a place, same size as the one in Worcester.

Pure speculation on my part but the President's House is presumably "free" other than probably taxed as ancillary/other income, it likely depends on his wife's medical practice. Haven't seen anything to the effect she is either giving it up or moving it to the Worcester area, so she may be staying most of her time in the homestead to be close to her work and coming to Worcester and staying in the new place as social or family events require. Phreek, get on it!!

I don't mind HC offering any collaborative programs with WPI. On the other hand, I don't think that we want any of our students exposed to anything at the highly ranked school in Chestnut Hill. On the morning show today on WEEI, one of the hosts, a 2014 BC Communications major, was talking about the flooding in the capital of Vermont. She couldn't say it and seemed to have never even heard of it. This is what happens when you attend a trade school.

She does a good job in her role (news bits, contrary voice to other participants in the show) so I have no doubt that she is reasonably bright but her Linkedin says she went to Bishop Guertin HS, so I have a hard time understanding how the name of the capital in an adjoining state could be so confusing to her.

I would have assumed that most college students should have at least heard of all 50 states including Vermont. Leave it to BC to disappoint.

That being said I would have also assumed that most college students would have heard of every state capital. Even if you can't answer the question about a given state, when told the name you should at least get an "Oh Ya"

I’ll let the state of Vermont start a campaign regarding the pronunciation of their capital city.
However….. when traveling west of the Connecticut River, many either have not heard or cannot pronounce the name of the second largest city in New England. Time for the Chamber of Commerce and the Worcester Consortium of colleges and universities to mount an aggressive national campaign. Maybe have Adam Sandler as the spokesperson. 🙂😂
