Tony Bennett gifted us with his talents & grace. He led a full life with many ups & downs. Had a 70+ year masterful singing career. Was an accomplished painter. Served his country in the army in WWII and later marching with Dr. King in the Cvil Rights Movement. He overcame the demons of drug abuse in the 1970's only to return to the heights as a performer. Obviously his singular voice will live on in the many beautiful songs he recorded. His life was a gift to all of us. May his soul Rest in Peace.

Continued performing for five years after being diagnosed with Alzheimers Disease before his family announced the diagnosis. He was fabulous.

Glad I got to see him when he still had his fastball. Or, should I say, got his fastball back after it being gone for a while.

I like reading that Frank Sinatra deemed Tony the finest singer in the business back in the 1960's

Years ago I read a biography of Tony. Iirc, he stood up for a black guy in his unit in the service and became committed to civil rights from then on. That was back when it wasn't virtue signalling but rather there could be a price to pay such as lost dates and record sales in the South.
