Are we staying in Boston on Friday night or driving down the Pike Saturday morning? Given the noon kick, hope we are driving out on Friday afternoon. Good question. It’s a 41 mile drive from HC to the Stadium. Not sure it makes sense from a travel/cost/time savings perspective but some coaches like everyone in one place the night before a game. Could split the baby and have the guys who are likely to see the field go the night before and bus everyone else up in the morning. I assume we want the whole team there dressed and on the sideline. I could see walk through at HC on Friday afternoon and then those who are dressing drive out that night. There's just something about having to get on the bus the morning of a game (especially with an early kick) that messes with your legs / head.

The quick slants and check downs from NIU really hurt BC. They also ran off tackle quite a bit successfully. I don't remember exactly but I think their QB had some runs as well. Think Sluka could do damage.

We used to do it for both Harvard and Yale. Never felt right or good vibes.

This appears to have been an issue for years We should fund and earmark the CAF to provide for first class travel and meals on the road The school should do it, but it hasn't for decades, so it is up to us if it is a problem How much is HC getting to play this game? Surely there are sufficient resources to bring the whole team and if a stay locally the night before is appropriate I’d like to see the whole team be able to experience that. It’s another opportunity to build upon a team concept that should pay dividends in the long run.

I'm thinking of 3-4 "non standard" plays I'd like to see the guys run next week, including the Morris TD against the Jacks.

I'm not sure if there are travel limitations for OOC games aside from budgeting. Buffalo was unique last year due to the chartered flights there and back. Of course, there have been conference restrictions on the # of players making the "travel squad" for as long as I can remember.

I’d only travel the guys that are dressing. You wouldn’t travel the entire team to Fordham, for instance, would you?

Agreed.
And it’s a relatively low cost way to enhance student engagement and experience; which pays off in other ways.
But we’re not in the entertainment business.

Which is a shame. You can't control every bounce of the ball on the field but you can make sure the infrastructure necessary to promote the school spirit is in place and supported from top to bottom.

Regarding getting on the bus in the morning, unless the team is staying at an on campus hotel next to the stadium, some distance has to be bussed on game day. It would be a shame if HC got a hotel in Framingham and only cut the trip from an hour to a half hour. I do see the benefit of getting to bed early in a quiet zone away from the dorms for those scheduled for significant playing time.

If we are being honest, our students are pretty apathetic about athletics. We can’t even put together an actual student section at home games. Rallying large groups of students to get out of bed and get on a bus to Boston for a noon kickoff likely would not be met with a ton of enthusiasm.

If you’re a student now, this is the biggest game you’ll see in your four years. Plenty of kids will be getting up early to get to chestnut hill. Not to mention if all goes right it could be a chance to see something very special.

We’re all incredibly excited. I think a lot of the school is going to make the trip. Let’s hope. Beat BC.

There is likely restrictions put into the contract I believe PL games have a limit of 65 players on the visiting team who can dress for the game, but the team can otherwise travel with as many players as they choose. My memory was that last year HC typically traveled with a squad of approx. 70-72 players, including most juniors and seniors. Those who didn’t dress remained on the sideline in sweats.

May not be the right place to ask, but does anyone know of any cheap, off-campus parking options for this game? In another thread, HCFC45 wrote : “ Parking in Brighton at the New Balance parking garage is available for $20 with shuttle bus service BC. Confirmed with the BC ticket office....” I just saw this on the BC website : Guest Street Satellite Parking Starting for the 2023 season, satellite parking at 20 Guest Street, Brighton, MA 02135 is no longer available.

Someone complained about that on BC Interruption. Guess they did not communicate the change very well.

Parking is a big issue at BC games. When I have attended games, I usually took the Green line B train to the BC stop or parked beyond Cleveland Circle and resigned myself to walking a significant distance to campus and likely getting a parking ticket. Unless you pay through the nose for parking on campus (which is difficult to obtain for a single game even if you are willing to pay several hundred dollars to do so), there are no good options on campus. Regardless, you simply can’t drive up to campus and expect to park there.

The thing that really scares me about this game is we beat BC, it is one of the final nails in the coffin for Hafley and it makes our coach all the more appealing to BC as his replacement.
