And we're back! I'm glad I checked today as I was going to look into putting Week 1 games up soon.
There is actually one PL game on the docket this Saturday the 26th as our rivals(?) Fordham travel up state to take on the Great Danes of Albany Saturday night at 7.
As always, no spreads, just pick the winner of every game. Great to be back! Good luck!

I will go with Albany They are at home and the Rams are breaking in a new QB. (Has he won "player of the week" yet?)

How can you not pick a team from the mighty Patriot League (even if just a part time member)? Fordham Rams.

Last year Fordham by a whisker, 48-45.
DeMorat’s gone. Don’t think it’ll be close.
Albany.

Man, this looks like a pick''em to me.
Fordham gave up about 5,000 points last year, and repeatedly got bailed out by DeMorat and his receivers.
Great Danes. woof

So, these last couple of posts lead me to believe that Fordham won’t be any good this year and we should have a very large win since I’m assuming based on pre-season rankings that HC is much better than Albany. Or is my logic askew?

Fordham
Only going with the Rams because a number of die-hards that I'm friends with swear that they're underrated this year. Plenty of talent returning on offense, sans Tim D. If they get good QB play and defense is measurably improved, I'm buying on Fordham being a contender. Albany 3-8 last year FWIW, but of course played dead even with Fordham and DeMorat, in the Bronx no less.

Lightbulb popped in my head as I drove by Rose Hill yesterday evening, and I remembered Fordham had a game this weekend.

I think Fordham will be a slight favorite at the large sports books come game day but to me this is a "pick em". Fordham may be more talented in aggregate but first game of the year at Albany with the Danes having a very good returning QB will be tough. The keys to the game for Fordham will be their run game and pass rush on D. Fordham will need at least 200 yards on the ground (~130-140 from Louthbridge). Can the 2 DEs Jaworski and Dixon along with Conway in the blitz game get pressure on Albany's QB? Can the new DC at Fordham put his players in better schemes/situations to win at the point of attack? Can DeMorat heir CJ Montes manage the game and not turn the ball over in his first start?
Albany lost several heartbreakers last year. At Villanova by 2, at Hampton by 1 in OT, v UNH by 5 etc. I think they get it done at home in the "black out."
Albany 38-31
I'll be rooting for the Rams of course.

For me there are too many uncertainties with Fordham right now - most particularly at the most important QB position. They have talent for sure. But first game of the season against a decent opponent, in Albany, I think Albany get it done this year vs. last year losing a close one.
Albany 31-27.

Albany has a close win vs a PL team in week zero. August 30, 2014: Albany 14 HC 13 in a heartbreaker. HC has been doing the heart breaking recently.
