We all know that what counts is whether the team wins or loses and that our players are dedicated to winning each game, the PL Championship, and the FCS Championship. Having said that, I don’t think it hurts to follow some of our stars as they climb the ladder of all-time records at Holy Cross. Here are some players to watch this season.

Having said that, I don’t think it hurts to follow some of our stars as they climb the ladder of all-time records at Holy Cross. Here are some players to watch this season.
Pass Receiving---- Jalen Coker.
“Jump Ball Jalen” (first heard Matt Sluka call him that last year) is an amazing wide receiver. He’s made the Top 10 in career receiving touchdowns, will displace Dave Quehl for #10 in receiving yardage next game, and could make the top five in receptions by season’s end. Here are the lists. Note, however, that HC, unfortunately, does not update the data base yearly as it should. If you think I’ve missed a recent player I’ll try to tabulate his stats and update the Top 10.
Receptions
1= 209 Mike Fess 2= 197 Brendan Flaherty 3= 190 Jeff Laboranti 4= 182 Ari Confesor 5= 158 Mark Gallagher 6= 155 Kalif Raymond 7= 154 Steve Silva 8= 148 Ryan Maher 8= 148 Gerald Mistretta 8= 148 Jake Wieczorek

11= 1,837 Dave Quehl leaves the Top 10 list after 45 years. I believe he was #1 in receptions and yards for decades

Matt is on all three lists--yards, yards per carry, rushing touchdowns--while Jordan is on the two latter lists already

NOTE: I have been trying to wedit the post to reformat it butam having tremendous difficuty in doing so, No wonder, wabbits don't wedit well.🙂 I've been enjoying following players climb all time lists since the interminable waits for Captain Carl's (Yaz) 3000th hit and 400th home run. Keep the stats coming!

Many of these number 1s are reachable, but Randolph’s total yards and especially his completion % are unattainable, even if Matt returns far a fifth year. (He said hopefully)

Tim DeMorat's career completion average was 61.3%, showing how impressive Dom's accuracy was. "TD" (Tim Demorat) just nosed out Dom for PL career yardage leader 13,461 to 13,445. Dom just got nipped by TD in career TDs 123-117.

Gordie Lockbaum had more rushing touchdowns than games played on offense. He only played two seasons on offense. And when he carried the ball he also ran extensively in the game as a defensive back.

Oddly enough it appears that goholycross.com has just updated the data base-long overdue and much appreciated.
Re: Geordie Lockbaum - he is tied with Joe Segretti for the lead in total touchdowns with 44.

Gordie had no interception or return touchdowns . My classmate John Provost returned 4 punts for touchdowns and scored twice on interceptions.

So we have only had 8 QBs ever throw for more TDs than INT? Pretty cool to see Sluka at the top of the TD-INT ratio list...by a landslide.

Iincluded quarterbacks with 25 or more TD's. Some QB's with fewer than 25 TD passes did have a ratio of 1,0 to 1 or better, e.g. Connor Degenhardt threw 16 touchdown passes versus 9 interceptions.

In two Demorat-esque seasons as a grad transfer for the University of New Haven Chargers, Connor Degenhardt threw 47 touchdowns vs nine interceptions.

Jake Dobbs has 51 TOT this year. If he keeps up this pace, he should close in on McGovern single season record of 187. High mark but plausible.

Looking at the lists, looks like Coker has a really good shot to finish #1 all time in receiving yards. He should take the lead in TD receptions as well. And probably gets to at least 5th (behind Ari Confessor) in total receptions.

I did not realize Mike Kielt '09 finished with a career average of 5.0 ypc. Loved Mike, hell of a footballer. Former CT Mr. Football in HS, too at Southbury Pomperaug.
