Prediction: this game will not be as close or exciting as HC's recent game against a P-5 opponent.

I heard our friend Foley negotiated the contract for his alma mater. UNH will be walking away with a nice check for $45,000.

When I watched Ryan Day interviewed after the ND game I thought this guy really needs to switch to decaf.

When I watched Ryan Day interviewed after the ND game I thought this guy really needs to switch to decaf. Well how would you react after winning a top ten college football game on the road and the final play? I think some of his comments about Lou Holtz were really the cause of consternation. A bit childish to engage in that debate. Some of the comments he attributed to Holtz were actually from Pat McAfee's show impersonating Lou Holtz in a sit down interview. I am sure UNH will get a great payday. Will be a fantastic experience for the kids to play in Ohio Stadium. As long as the team comes out uninjured it will be fine. Typically the top 10 FBS in the country don't like scheduling top 25 FCS opponents for fear of a Michigan-App State or similar happening. Bring on the Irish for HC!

I thought I recall that the Big10 teams prohibited FCS/pay games but admittedly, thought that was posted here 5 +/- years ago. I'll be rooting like crazy for Wildcats. Hate the Buckeyes before, during and after living there. Woody Hayes was such a son-of-a-gun. Landing in Columbus and walking through the airport 30 some odd years ago, they had a store devoted to Woody Hayes. Not even for OSU, though they had stuff for that too, but Woody frickin' Hayes! And, they not once but twice had Gordon Gee as president. "Fool me once, shame on you . . . " P.S. I've said before, don't paint UNH in the same pail as Foley, they are good people there. P.P.S. The people of Ohio are also good people. Their State U, not so much. They make up in quantity what they lack in quality.

Big 10 walked back that rule a few years ago. Perhaps they didn't want to make it harder for schools to fill open dates by restricting the pool of potential opponents.
Rutgers plays an FCS pretty much every year now.
Penn St played Delaware this year.
Iowa beat our friends at SDSU 7-6 last year.

Ouch! I never liked Woody Hayes, or the way his players sometimes acted, but that seems a bit extreme.

Ouch! I never liked Woody Hayes, or the way his players sometimes acted, but that seems a bit extreme. I assume, my friend, you are referring to my comments. I put Woody in the same boat as Bobby Knight and Ben Schwartzwalder (spelling likely wrong but I don't care to look it up). Perhaps Woody was worse when you hit any opposing player, which was the last straw even for most of the Buckeye faithful. The man was deified in central Ohio. Not going to post again what I wrote years ago about how Knight treated a scrimmage in the old HC fieldhouse while with Army. A total jerk. Not so much with us, as he was with his own players. Ben S, "roll 'em up Benny" was the quintessential poor winner.

Look the easy FBS games to schedule for the top FCS teams will soon disappear. The only options we might have, if we want payment, will be similar to the NH game with OSU
Naturally continued success and time will tell

NDSU has had a heckuva time scheduling an FBS game since they began their dynasty some 12 years ago. Surprised they convinced Arizona to host them last year and, like our BC game, probably should have won.
We would lose to an incredible ND team even this year, but it would be spectacular take in.

OK, I would root for 70-0 that would satisfy me - the extra 70 might not mean much. Why would you want a rout? UNH isn't going to beat OSU but all of us should want any FCS school playing a FBS school to play well because it benefits all of us. There are probably some UNH fans that want us to get crushed by Army like you want UNH to get crushed by OSU. But I don't think the majority of HC fans want UNH to get crushed any more than the majority of UNH fans want us to get crushed. We need to be better than that.

hc69, I think you may have missed the point. Sader1970 and I were sharing our dislike for Ohio State going back to Woody Hayes. We wanted UNH to beat THE Ohio State. Realistically that is not going to happen but a close game woud clearly benefit all FCS schools. Since no one said they want UNH to get crushed by Ohio State, I am afraid most of your post makes no sense. Sorry for any confusion.

A quick Google search says Georgia Tech won a game in 1916 by a score of 222-0. Therefore 223-0 for Ohio State please

There are many stories about the fiasco (they were even offering guys money at train stops to come play for them in that game). I started a cross country championship called the Cumberland Run. The meet had a philosophy that said (to teams with losing records) "No matter how bad things may feel, at least you are NOT Cumberland College. It could always be worse.

An issue to belabor in February or later I suppose, but I don't see another BC game for awhile due to scheduling conflicts. We already have 12 games next year, BC already has its 4 OOC in '25......they also have New England FCS opponents scheduled through 2028. fbschedules.com/ncaa/boston-college/I just would hate to see, particularly after the game this year, another 6 or 7 year gap between games with them. Ideally I think every HC player/student/alum/fan etc should have a BC game during their 4 years at HC. Hopefully those with more powers than I in these things will come up with a solution. OK...late night rant ovah.....getting ready for my 1st Polar Park HC game tomorrow. Beat the Johnnies!
