Now I'm on their list too!! (Fear not, I've never given them a nickel, or "one thin dime" as Calhoun would say):
Dear XXXXXXXX,
I write to follow up on the message below, which announces the beginning of Soaring Higher, the new $3 billion campaign for Boston College. As you will read, the larger University goal includes an ambitious goal of raising $400 million for BC Athletics.
Our student-athletes rely on loyal Athletics donors for scholarships, enhancements to facilities, support for the whole student-athlete, and so much more. They are pillars of the community who demonstrate intensive self-discipline, motivation, and heart, excelling not only as competitors but also as advanced and committed scholars.
I am thrilled to be here at this important moment in the University’s history, and I hope you will plan to join me in supporting BC Athletics in whatever way you can. On behalf of our entire department, thank you for leading us to this important victory.
Go Eagles!
Blake James
William V. Campbell Director of Athletics
For the past 160 years, BC’s Jesuit, Catholic tradition and its mission of service to others has had immeasurable impacts on the lives of its alumni and the communities served by its faculty and students. It takes all of us to ensure BC is able to continue fulfilling its important place in the world. In that spirit and on behalf of this great University, we are thrilled to announce the launch of Soaring Higher: the Campaign for Boston College.
The University is at a key moment in its history with simultaneous opportunities to do good in the world, to meet the needs of our students and faculty, and to strengthen our resources for future generations. Building on a rich history of philanthropic support, this monumental $3 billion effort will bolster the Heights across three critical areas: financial aid and scholarships, the academic enterprise, and the student experience. Within this ambitious goal, the University seeks to raise $400 million in support of BC Athletics and $100 million for BC Law School.
Time and again, Eagles have risen to the challenges the world has presented them, not solely as individuals but also as members of a global community. It is our sincere hope that all members of the BC family will embrace this opportunity and that Soaring Higher will help fulfill Boston College’s aspirations of being the world’s leading Jesuit, Catholic university.
We cannot do it without you.
Sincerely,
Campaign Co-chairs
