This has the makings of a very good team that should be in the hunt near the top of the league from the get-go.. We open the season Sunday night vs. LIU at home at 7pm Maybe our SID office wasn't aware of the league media day awhile back but I found it on the Army site
You can check out our coach Riga and his comments on our team starting at the 1:06:00 mark on this attachment

LIU sold out the Northwell Health Arena with 1862 for the Penn State opener. It is the practice site of the New York Islanders. It has two rinks, state of the art strength and conditioning and rehab facilities, pro shop etc. It's somewhat similar to the Worcester Railers two rink facility in downtown Worcester but obviously the Worcester location has a connection with a double A level pro team, not an NHL team.
Different schools take different approaches to facilities for many different reasons. I support any school being efficient in their choices and taking advantage of shared community resources. The gold standard is great facilities right on campus but not at any cost and I don't look down my nose at schools who don't meet that standard for all or even any sports. If the facility is deemed safe for the participants then everything beyond that is gravy.

Close 3-2 HC lead expands to 5-2 final with two empty net goals - nice way to start the season

Decent start. They lost to Penn State 3-2 on Saturday night, so not a bad opener.

I would also add that Grayson Constable was a great crusader and led a culture change to this program. He scored both of LIU’s goals.

Nice outing for Jason Grade. 20/22 saves and from what I saw played a solid game. Grande and Gale are a reliable combo.

Tough upcoming weekend with a home-and-home against #20 UConn. Picked to finish fifth in HE and took four points against Colgate (picked six of 12 in ECAC) in Hamilton last weekend.
I'm surprised we haven't played UConn since 2014. Despite them leaving the AHL, would have thought there'd have been a non-conference game against them.

I suspect that Berard might not have wanted to play UConn. When Bruce Marshall went out on disability leave right before the move to HE, Berard was acting head coach and published reports said that he was a finalist for the permanent position.

Team picked up where it left off at the end of the longest season in college sports. UConn will be a good measuring stick.

UConn will be a good measuring stick. They have their eyes set on a HE title and are definitely above average. They might not be a top 3 team in the league but certainly top half. Not only will it be a great game (might need a strong game from our tendies) it is also a benefit game to raise awareness and funds for a Jr Crusader battling brain cancer. Anyone in the area should try to attend!

BTW, good luck trying to get tickets to a UConn MIH home game.

Berard is the Associate AD at Providence and PC and HC were trying to scrimmage but the NCAA nixed it after a mixup gave Michigan an exhibition game before it was allowed.
