It's hard to reconcile these glowing accolades with the several Crossports posts suggesting that we are "not that good". I think we are very, very good despite the loss to a good Harvard team driven by the five anomalous turnovers

Two observations 1-The low ranked Patriot League has the two highest rated QBs in the US. 2- As of now we have 4 of the best skill position players in the country. Three of these players are likely to be gone after this season.Only Jordan is a junior. Jake is definitely gone, with Matt and Jalen possibly done also. This group may be our last best chance to win it all. They will be very difficult, if not impossible, to replace at the same time, soon or later. We are talking about the overall most important position, and two other very important offensive positions as well as one of, if not the most, important defensive position. We have to hope that our defense can improve enough to give us a legitimate chance to compete for a championship.

The Fordham game could be the most entertaining FCS game of the season. Fordham can't shut down our offense consistently. But our achilles heel is our defense. I've seen nothing so far that suggests our pass defense can shut down a pure passer like Montes consistently either. The O/U for this game could easily be 100.

Actually, Ill give my Fordham friends one close back and forth half of football. And the I want to see 2nd half total domination baby!

I think Fordham's offense is still dynamic but probably a little worse than last year, but I don't know the stats comparison. Our offense is better than last year I think but then there is our defense! Should be another 50 point game unless we try to control the clock and pound it on them.
Can't discount truly how good Jake is. Imagine our D this year without him.

BIG difference between ‘possibly’ and ‘likely’ Time will tell, but if I had to bet, my $$$ would go with 9 & 80 returning to Fitton in ‘24 Beat Lafayette ✝️🏈

I think Laffy beats Fordham by 10 They are our toughest PL opponent and they are next up We all can score, but they can defend which makes them different than Fordham The DL must get penetration and occupy the OL so Dobbs, the LBs and DBs can make plays

If Montes (17 TDs, 0 int.) is already the second best QB in the nation halfway into his first season at Fordham, Laffy and HC have a wildcard on their hands as he is likely improving every week. He just threw for his season high, 382 yards vs Lehigh.

PL gets one bid
Big Sky gets 4 Missouri V gets 6 Southern gets 2 CAA gets 3/4 After automatics I think that leaves one bid
PL is great for what some believe or want it to represent For the ability to pursuit excellence in athletics it truly lays an egg

I agree with efg that the de facto Championship game is likely against Laffy one week from Saturday. Lafayette has a legit top 10 D in FCS. The question is...how good is their offense. DeNobile looks great on tape, but Duke is their toughest opponent thus far. (Yes they scored one more point against Bucknell). I think we have to be careful with DeNobile like Rucker from Bucknell. It will be a test for our D, but I'm not buying their offensive numbers vs their schedule. I think Laffy could make a run at an at large if they had kept it closer vs Duke and just had an L to HC.

Lafayette definitely will be in the at-large conversation if they finish 9-2 with a 9-1 record against FCS. Not a lock, but at very least in the conversation.

Agree, but look at history of the voting, ranking of conferences, SOS, and natural FCS biases going to MVC, big sky, CAA, and possibly the Southern
Unfortunately at 72 I still sleep around 3-4 hours so I have watched these teams like I have a vested interest.the good thing is I have global clients so I am always available😇😎
At this point, and only because of our defensive vulnerabilities, I have us at 10, and 9 if we win out.
If we lose at home to Laffy, I think the Committee will want us to beat Fordham by 20 and also beat Army to give us an at large bid.
They want the best players in the playoffs and we have names that people on the Committe know and want to keep in the national conversation.
Let's win convincingly next week and make it an easy decision
Go CrossGo✝️✝️✝️✝️🏈🏈🏈🇺🇸🍀🍀🙏👏

herosports.com/fcs-2023-pff-highest-graded-players-7-bzbz/As a reminder, PFF is a quant based analytical tool attempting to be less subjective. Becton, Steele and others likely refer to it as one data point but ultimately are making those lists based on their own judgements. Good to see CJ as 1st team on Steele’s list (it’s been teased he will be a Top 10 “small school” draft prospect on some updated lists) while Newman appearing on PFF.
