When you are in a position to be down by that much in an NCAA tournament game while the vast majority of schools couldn't even make the tournament to play a game, that's pretty good in my opinion. We have different standards, apparently.
Why do I strongly suspect if we were talking about some other school that you wouldn't make this statement?

We’re good at football. We’re good at women’s hoops. We’re getting good at men’s hockey. If Paulsen can do what we expect him to do, we’ll be in business. When’s the last time all 4 of those programs were good at the same time? Good in Women's Basketball?? When you are down 23-4 after a quarter of play in the NCAA Tournament. I would consider that uncompetitive. The game I saw them play last year they lost to the America East champ by 30 points... Yeah we aren’t quite on the level of a top ten team. Did go 24-9 and had a top 125 RPI. Pretty good. Teams at our level really aren’t comparing ourselves to the UConns and South Carolinas and Baylors of the world. But you knew that.

I would never consider a Patriot League team "good" unless they won multiple NCAA games over several seasons.

All low/mid major programs say "We won our ten team league tournament. We SUCK, fire the coach and AD now!"
Many mid major coaches work a whole career and get to the NCAA or WNIT a handful of times. Coach Magarity has done so two years in a row. The WNIT with the superstar P.O Y. she inherited and then the big prize, the NCAA with mostly her own recruits.
To put her accomplishments in further perspective, HC FB has been dominant in a seven team league wih one team eschewing scholarships. PL BB has ten teams with all schools funding full scholarship levels.

Can you imagine how low in life you have to be to continue posting this stuff on another school’s board.
Have to kind of feel bad for the guy.
Sad life.

But again, I think there’s a mental disorder happening here and there are people here that would be willing to help you if you wanted.

We should have a stat to go along with total number of posts, that stat would be PPP, standing for Percentage of Pissant Posts. My PPP would most certainly not be close to zero, being a wiseass at times; but I have a pretty good idea who'd be the leader.

Think we'll have a decent chance to crack the top 20 when the poll is released today.
Last time we were ranked was Dec. 31, 2012. We started the season 10-4-2 that year. In fact, we beat Yale that season, who went on to win the national championship.
I'd be curious to know if there have been any other times where we beat the eventual champs -- in any sport -- during the regular season.

So, while I guess I sarcastically invited your opinion, I was looking to see how you would explain away the hockey win.

Anyone can win one or two games with a hot goalie and a couple of good bounces. The question is can they continue it?

I agree with you that UConn got a lot of lucky bounces but maybe their luck will continue, it's a lucky sport.

After playing HC for a weekend, UConn is UGone from the poll.
RIT in the AHA is comparable to HC in PL FB. It's great to see that type of support. They beat the Irish 3-0.

Isn't hockey a pretty new sport at ND? Thought they didn't even have a team 10-15 years ago.
To paraphrase Jack Donahue, let's not get it mixed up with the football team.

Not really, they reinstated the team in 1968 and had a team from 1911-1927. They just were terrible for a long time playing in the old Joyce Center which was an absolute dump for a long time. They had retractable seating in that building. ballparks.smugmug.com/Notre-Dame-University-Joyce-Center-South-Bend-Indiana/i-TPgTC94/A

Let's schedule Irish Hockey posthaste. We played them in 2021 out at the Compton Arena. ND was #17 at the time and we were swept in a 2 game series. It was great exposure because both games were on NBC Sports network.

They are a lot more similar to the football team than you would think. Consistently a very strong program, made the frozen four multiple times and have played in 1 or 2 national championship games but seem to be always a little short of the hockey equivalent of the SEC. That is a great win for RIT and they got that game because they can draw 10,000 fans for homecoming.
