Why didn't this kid have better offers? Seems like a real find in a basketball-rich state.

Ballard is a very large high school with past success in basketball. It is the closest public HS to my house. The Bruins seem to be having an off season with a 4-6 record, losing their last five games including the last 3 at a tournament in Tennessee. Ballard is #151 of 274 reporting high schools in the Kentucky R{I rankings, Max's Oldham County HS is # 47 and has a 9-4 record, winning the last 5 in a row, Max leads the state in scoring at 31.6 points per game . In second place is a kid from Todd County, a smaller high school, but #3 is Travis Perry, Kentucky's all-time leading HS scorer, Mr Basketball, and a UK signee. is hitting 83.9% of his free throws (led the state last year at 90%+ I think) and 40.9% of his threes. Ky, Are you going to the game ?

Max and Tyler could have an immediate impact next season.

Max looks very thin but he may be able to work around that as a guard.

Max looks very thin but he may be able to work around that as a guard. Jack the Shot was pretty thin. ”Feed the Weed.” Even today Holmgren and Wemby are called skinny The game will always be primarily about skills.

By any description of his ability he can play.
Boston and Green aren't typical PL players

Why didn't this kid have better offers? Seems like a real find in a basketball-rich state. Rumor mill is that his parent were really sold on the HC experience. Especially the mentoring aspect of the hoops version of 90 wide. I get the impression the staff considers this a good signing. Disclaimer: The staff (and a lot of us posters) think every signed player is a "good" signing destined to be a stud

Boys bball in Ky is obviously very big. That’s quite a packed schedule including 2 back to backs - you won’t see that anywhere in the northeast

Buddy Venne (Class of 1972) averaged 35 points a game his senior year at Xavier HS in Concord, Mass.
That year he was the leading HS scorer in the State of Massachusetts.

If people can keep from jumping out windows or punching out their tv sets and computers, we might be in for some better times.

If people can keep from jumping out windows or punching out their tv sets and computers, we might be in for some better times. One can hope but the bar is extremely low based on the last 4+ years. The record against D1 opponents is beyond abysmal.

My high school played Xavier. I think I remember seeing him, but games and players run together at this stage. Both Catholic high schools are long gone which is a secular trend among religious schools.😒

Back to the 30 club, plus a double-double. Responsible for 50+ points. And 5 steals are significant
