Two Crusaders get PL Honorable Mention this week.
Matt Duchemin, Holy Cross, Sr., CB, Haverhill, Mass./St. John’s Prep *Duchemin’s 68-yard interception return for a touchdown helped seal Holy Cross’s 49-47 victory over Fordham to improve to 3-1 in League play. The senior cornerback’s pick-six came with the Crusaders holding a one-point fourth-quarter advantage. He also made a career-high five tackles. Joe Pesansky, Holy Cross, Jr., QB, Tampa, Fla./Jesuit *Pesansky completed 20-of-33 passes for 337 yards and three touchdowns to lead Holy Cross to a 49-47 victory over Fordham to claim the Ram-Crusader Cup in his first collegiate start. He threw his first career touchdown pass on a 41-yard strike to Jalen Coker on the first drive of the game.

Once again the league office is politically correct as they share the awards

I thought Tim DeMorat would win PL POTW with Montes coming in as HM.
Congrats to Matt and Joe. Great to be recognized for their outstanding play with a lot on the line

I think the league tries to spread out the schools represented when there is a close call for an award - the Rucker kid from Bucknell has been playing very well and had a great day on Saturday

Once again the league office is politically correct as they share the awards 1. The PL office does not pick the weekly award winners. There is a vote by the 7 SIDs and seven media representatives. 2. It would have been hard for any neutral voters to pick the two HC players ahead of the two who actually got the awards.

Neutral? Who on this board is neutral when it comes to HC football? Understand, yes. Neutral, no way. I first saw HC play Fordham at the Polo Grounds as a kid in the early '50's. Started following HC regularly in '63. Although the '62 "Best Backfield in the East" team got a lot of coverage in the newspapers and garnered my interest. (Same long time relationship with HC basketball NIT champions.) Neutral? After all these years I could never be a neutral observer about HC.

I grew up in the Bronx on Valentine Avenue (in the area between Grand Concourse and Fordham Road - near Poe Park). Had things gone differently, I might have been a Fordham fan but I was won over to the Purple side by a banner I got in grammar school of three mounted knights over the words Holy Cross. That, and seeing Bob Cousy play for the Celtics, sold me on Holy Cross.

Imagine myself watching HC vs Fordham from the Polo Grounds or HC vs Army from Yankee. I'll take BC vs. Holy Cross from beautiful Fitton, however, much better sightlines than Fenway. I had a late friend of the family who was a Giants fan and was at the "shot heard round the world" at the Polo Grounds in '51 and loved hearing him tell the story of the game.

By birth year, locale and wonderful parents, I was fortunate to see the Dodgers at Ebbets Field many times and the Dodgers-Giants at the Polo Grounds once(thank you, mom) I also watched Fordham play football at the Polo Grounds, probably(I was 7 ) against HC. Also saw the football Giants play often at yan… Stadium, including NFL Championship games in ‘58(“Greatest Game Ever Played”) and ‘62., both Giants losses. Watched Jimmy Brown there a few times. As I wrote at the start, fortunate-blessed.

WOW Sports matter in attracting 17 and 18 year olds? ("got a lot of coverage in the newspapers and garnered my interest.") Interesting: didn't know that.

WOW Sports matter in attracting 17 and 18 year olds? ("got a lot of coverage in the newspapers and garnered my interest.") Interesting: didn't know that. Thank you. Happy to enlighten you. HC had & has a lot to attract students starting w/ elite rigorous academics. Fortunately, I had a lot of options. Chose HC over Cornell because HC was a Catholic college. It was sort of a scaffolding approach considering various criteria on an individual basis- elite academics, top notch pre-med program, size, location, deemphasized sports ( Eliminated ND.), campus, student body, prior family connection, etc. Thanks again.

I think the league tries to spread out the schools represented when there is a close call for an award - the Rucker kid from Bucknell has been playing very well and had a great day on Saturday Statistically Rucker had a very similar game to Fordham’s Montes. He also did it in a win, which carries wait with at least some of the voters. He also did it in a win, which carries weight with at least some of the voters. However, that didn’t really matter since Montes was not even nominated by Fordham for the award and thus couldn’t get any votes. in some sports, the PL may try to spread out the awards. However, that is not true in football since the PL does not choose the recipients.
