And imagine how bad it would be if it were still non-scholarship! Or if Colgate weren't in the league! With all respect for what they've done the past 5 years, the fact that Colgate is now the flagship basketball program in the PL speaks volumes.

Part of that respect should be for some of their signature OOC wins. See Boeheim,Jim

What Langel has done is amazing. And yet they seem to get so little support; I mean, one message thread on their board lasts the whole season.

Ranked 29 of 32 conferences. Seven of ten teams ranked 300+. The PL has never been this bad. Sad. I am surprised it isn’t 31 or 32. I would hope the PL ADs if not the Presidents, are aware of this. It shouldn’t be this bad and should be seen as unacceptable. I suspect it isn’t.

Nobody cares about basketball in the PL except for Bucknell, Holy Cross and for now Colgate.
This league is such an awful fit for us in hoops, ugh.

Agree that something has to be done. But not sure the presidents care so it’s going to take influential alums to apply some pressure. I’ll also opine that our conference rankings in Olympic/ minor sports are the same (and HC leads in that apathy dept)

PL is great in minor sports, HC not ao much. We could use a couple of schools that aren't apathetic about basketball.

Then admit that most of our (non major) teams could not compete with the best of D.3, because that’s the case. Yes, HC doesn’t give a rats ass about it.

Holy Cross tennis losing a match to College of the Elms wouldn't bother me one bit. The basketball team losing to UMASS Boston or getting smoked by bottom of the barrel DI teams? Different story. At the very least, be competitive in the sports we pretend to care about.

Then we are a D.1 fraud in most of our sports - let’s end this and agree to that (ADKH promised something else when he took the job)

Respectfully, we care about hoops at AU a great deal. With no football/baseball, it's our signature sport. The last two presidents have put a lot more into athletics than we had at any point in the preceding 30 years, which has left us woefully behind in so many areas compared with other PL teams. I'm hoping the new practice facility (likely '26) will help reduce some of that gap.

Lafayette is another school that has had some decent support in the past when they had good teams.
The fall of the PL sort of correlates with the explosion of the transfer process.....and now you add the NIL to that. As a group, the league is really up against it with those 2 factors. Then, toss in a few less than stellar coaches, and you have today's plight. At least now there seems to be some improvement from the coaching standpoint.
What happens to the service academies with the NIL?

Individual schools may have reasonable standards, but as far as conferences go, there are only 2, and we are behind the Ivies.

Who's behind us? MEAC and SWAC? NEC and SWAC? KenPom has SWAC, MEAC and NEC behind the PL (29th) Warren Nolan's NET rankings has the PL 27th, followed by the MEAC, Ohio Valley, Southland, SWAC, Northeast, Independents Team Rankings/Real Time RPI (which both use the since-discontinued RPI in determining conference strength) has the PL...DFL. 33rd.

12-46 minus the two D3 victories. 14-54 after tonight vs. D1 comp. Think about that.
American and Colgate have 7 of the 14 victories.
The other 8 teams have 7 wins combined.

Our next game at CCSU will tell us an awful lot on what to expect going forward. CCSU played Army last night @ Army and won by 28 points 79-51. They were up 21 points at the half. Last year CCSU was one of our very rare OOC wins under Nelson. If we can beat them at their place, at least we know that both Army games might be in the win column. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/boxscore/_/gameId/401584402

With such a poor record last night for the PL, I thought the Lehigh loss was the most disappointing - So I just watched the last 1:40 to see how they blew it: up 61-54, then the flwg - shot clock violation - missed layup - missed 2 free throws - fouled a St F player on 3 pt shot with 10 secs left - he hits all three to make it 62-61 and Lehigh's heave at the buzzer is not close (I'm thankful we didn't lose that way)
