“Matt will have multiple major opportunities with major NIL dollars attached to it,” Chesney said. “That’s the type of player he is, as we all know. We’re happy for him.”
No doubt he is MUCH more likely to make good money as a FBS QB than in the NFL. One of those new calculations (see Sam Hartman - and I'm not saying Matt Sluka IS Sam Hartman) Matt is wise to consider.

How much can these FBS QB's make? Also, regarding Chesney, it is clear to me that money matters to him. If it wasn't, he wouldn't have specifically called out that Matt will have opportunities "with major NIL dollars". I hope he's just using all of this as leverage to get what he deserves at HC. I really don't care if we are an outlier. Dare to be different HC!

I'm designating William Robinson as my guy to watch going forward. His sack against Georgetown (where he practically vaporized the RB trying block him) sealed the deal for me. He’s going to be a monster.

I guess I'm really most interested in what Chesney thinks "major dollars" means... If it's $50,000 then maybe we do have a chance of retaining him for life!!

A friend who knows about some of this stuff recently told me that Paige Bueckers, UConn women's basketball point-guard, is getting NIL money in the $2 Million range. How'd you like to bring in that kind of money as a (red-shirt) junior - knowing that when you graduate and play pro-basketball, you'll make no more than one-eighth of that?
The world of collegiate athletics is (politely) screwed up.

His stock will continue to rise regardless- he has built a culture of trust, respect, and winning. That doesn't disappear! Given the number of critical injuries, they won with mirrors this year and built depth for the future.
May you, your families, and those you care about enjoy the blessings of Thanksgiving and, in the words of Ted Lasso, Believe our future tomorrow's will be better than the day before!

Those who get the most NIL money have big time social media presence.

If he goes to the right school there is a good chance he could make significantly more than most of this year's senior class at HC will make next year. NIL money is no joke. Shadeur Sanders makes 7-8million...yes his family has money, but I'm not sure even Coach Prime would buy his son a Rolls to drive to college...but campus police recently booted his.

Surprised that local Worcester joints are not using HC athletes more, e.g. Jacob Dobbs eats Herbies sandwiches, Dickson drinks his Natty's at McGuire's, etc.
EDIT: Yes, I heard that McGuire's was long gone - RIP.

Can someone please explain how this will work for HC? I don’t expect us to have any student athletes with the same media presence as Shadeur Sanders or Paige Bueckers. At one point someone here said “contribute to the NIL when available”. What does that mean? Is there going to be a general HC NIL where they will distribute funds to athletes?? Just looking for a high level explanation. Please and thank you.

No crystal ball of course, but results something like this could happen next year: split the four OOC games against strong New England FCS teams, give Syracuse a scare but ultimately lose, go 5-1 in the PL to end up 7-4/5-1 but this time the tiebreak falls in our favor as we win the head to head battle against the other 5-1 team(s).
Then with a full season under his belt, Joe P. leads Holy Cross deeper in the playoffs than the Crusaders have ever been.
3-1 or even 4-0 against FCS OOC teams is certainly possible also which would make the playoff hunt less stressful.
Interesting that we will be playing teams from NH and RI in 2024 but not the weaker Ivy League teams Dartmouth and Brown we have traditionally played more often, but rather three teams from the stronger CAA. This is the more highly respected in national FCS circles schedule we have hoped for.

Still feel like we have a ton coming back with Fuller and Pesansky on offense and a lot of young talent on D. If some of our line returns next year we could have another league championship. It won't be easy, but neither was this year. Perhaps with lower expectations will come even greater opportunities to prove doubters wrong. I am very thankful for the experience of the last few years and wish our seniors/5th years nothing but success. Would love a chance to cheer them all at the next level in the coming years. That being said, I still feel like we have unfinished business. Can we win a national championship? I don't know. SDSU and Mont are that good this year, perhaps we would have lost in the semis or natty. Next year take it as far as we can. “Unfinished Business” is a perfect slogan for next year. Thankful for all the people and work getting to this point — phenomenal. But expectations have been set and there will be great satisfaction in working harder to meet or beat. Bottom line: thankful for the past very pumped for the future.

Going 3-3 vs URI, UNH, Bryant, Harvard, Yale and Cuse would be something.

If we had these teams on the schedule this past season, I would have expected 5-1 losing only to Syracuse.
I may start saying a novena to have Coach Chesney still with us in September. 🙏🏻

TURNING THE PAGE: I like reading books, especially historical fiction (getting so involved that I almost hate to put the book down at night so I don't miss something happening while I am asleep). For me the last HC game was like turning the last page of such a book. I was filled with regret that the "story" was finished. But, I know I will revisit the last 6 seasons many times in the future with much enjoyment and pride in our Crusaders. That story is there for all time. I know the regrets will fade but the joy I felt so often will not (starting with that win over Yale in Coach Chesney's first year on the hill) . I can't express my thanks to players, coaches and even Crossporters strongly enough for that story. I am now eagerly looking forward to the next chapter. GO CROSS GO!

One fly in the ointment is Fordham may be the only home game within the WooSox preferred time period to host football at Polar Park. I'd like to hope for great weather, two strong teams receiving votes or better in the polls and a festive Fitton crowd well into the teens for the Fordham game instead of Polar.
