HC shooting 52% (66% on twos, 36% on threes). Decent job on the defensive glass (75%). Just three TOs.

IUPUI was 0-5 on threes-cannot count on that in second half although IUPUI is one of worst 3 point shooting teams in memory

Solid outing for Bo today.
We've stretched the lead out from four to thirteen with Caleb and Louth on the bench

Turning yet another page . . . Tip at noon for this battle of the titans.
The Palindromes (2-3) were picked to finish 10th in the Horizon League in the pre-season poll, and currently sit at #328 in Pomeroy. Last year, they were 5-27 (360th). The year before, they were 3-26 (358th).
Holy Cross is currently 348th. Last year, 342nd. In 21-22, 349th.
I'm sure we would have kicked their ass in 1947. This season . . . not so sure.
“Palindromes” : very well done!! This is apparently the farewell year for the IUPUI name. The announcer mentioned near the end a name change coming to UI Indianapolis. Turns out it is more than just a rebrand — but rather a “realignment” which will spin out the engineering program to the completely separate Purdue in Indianapolis in July 2024. Not sure it affects anybody on the team or with the program. In any event — get those Palindrome references in this year while there is still time. Good to get the W today. www.iupui.edu/vision/faqs.html

I liked the way the team handled the second half run against them. No panic, score some points we get the win. Nice to see AJ get some time, he and Williams give the team some speed and quickness on both ends of the court. Played a little zone today, something for opponents to prepare for. Hopefully they learned a little more today regarding closing out a WIN. Now how do they prepare for St. John’s size and athleticism…..

Same way they prepared for Georgetown . . . . . Cooley, Pitino, Paulsen. We have the best "new" coach!

IUPUI had a #7 and a #9 on the court.
None of our previous opponents had anyone w/the now legal digits (Siena had a #7 but he didn't get in the game).

Same way they prepared for Georgetown . . . . St. John’s has far more talent than GTown, inc a very tough big, Figueroa. He was the only returnee whom Pitino did not run off.

Good to see better free throw shooting today by the Crusaders: 10/13= .729 including Joe Octave's 6 for 7.
Interesting that the top ten free throw shooting teams (percentage wise) are a composite W-L 28-14 YTD while the bottom 10 are W-L13-23.
This does not address the all-important "getting to the line" issue.

Hope he can continue w/that same form.

DeAndre Williams has now played 136 minutes, many spent penetrating the lane, and still hasn't taken a free throw. He seems intent on being pass first, which is appreciated, but thought there were a few occasions today when the better option was to take it to the hoop himself, maybe draw some contact.
His A/TO is now north of 4:1. Impressive for any guard handling so much in traffic, much less a freshman.

And DeAndre as of now seems like the best option for this season at least.
