Could be Chesney's return flight?

If these two scenarios are true, it seems to indicate he wants to leave HC. Why else would he pursue the first two viable openings available ? Perhaps his phrase “at HC you can have it all” applied to players only. That was my point in an earlier comment about coaches that get involved in multiple jobs during an offseason. Over time the messaging no longer resonates. In our case if he truly wants to move on, he should. He did an incredible job turning the program around, and we need to remember this is both a sport and a business. We thank him, wish him great success and he enjoys a wonderful career. Most importantly, his life be filled with happiness, and we move our program forward.

Taking over JMU is not necessarily an easy job. Yes it is a good place to coach and they have a program with plenty of talent. They also have great expectations, so success will require players buying into the change and delivering nine or more wins for the fans.
So a good program, but not necessarily an easy job.

Perhaps his phrase “at HC you can have it all” applied to players only. This is unfair, and frankly, ignorant. It is not about him wanting to leave a place, but rather trying to advance in his career. We shouldn't begrudge a man for that. It is not like he will ever leave for a FCS job or low end FBS job. He has been a great part of HC and hopefully continues to be in the future. However, he has earned a shot at FBS and I'll root for him when he does leave (except if he plays against HC).

You mean people don't want to coach in a league that peers think is terrible, limits rosters, has an unneeded AI, and won't redshirt like the rest of the NCAA division they play in? Chesney's greatest accomplishment has been putting HC football back on the map. Whether he moves on to greener pastures or not it'll be up to the administration to keep that going.

His name has been linked to 2 openings...1 in a P5 conference, the other with a top 25 team...he'd be insane not to at least explore those openings, and likely accept if offered.

I don't think that's his return flight. I saw a post indicating the AD, athletic faculty rep, grad assistant and NIL Rep (Montpelier Collective) boarded a plane this morning for Worcester.

Back to work and we will learn about the decisions when they are released

Chesney showed future coaches that indeed they can have it all at HC. And, if he moves up to FBS he furthers the argument by showing HC can be a stepping stone for career advancement to a higher level more lucrative coaching position. What the hell is wrong with that?

Here's a link I feel like this is either to sign the contract or he's their first choice and this is a full court press.

Coaches advancing in their career is great, however, if this alleged opportunity falls short, I would hope we can put it to rest for now, focus on this recruiting class, winter workouts, and spring practice.

Some on the JMU board are very impressed with HC’s athletic facilities. Apparently, they don’t have an indoor facility but then again, they are in VA.

Of course this was obvious
The Montpelier Collective was founded to promote community involvement by student athletes at James Madison University and to provide support of their volunteer efforts for local charities by awarding stipends for use of their name, image or likeness in connection with such efforts

I am inclined to think he is the choice and they are trying to get him to accept. (Or at least I am hoping that is the situation and it isn't already a done deal.)

Career wise, this year (or last year) would be the time to go. These up-and-comers (and students of Holy Cross football history) know you're just an FCS .500-ish record away from being yesterday's news. So I would not expect him to stop looking to move up this year if JMU doesn't pan out.

I have never heard of a hiring manager/group going to the prospect's place of residence/work. It sends a message of weakness; "We're desperate. We NEED you!" The relationship starts out on the wrong foot with the tail wagging the dog. Occasionally a third location to throw off the scent but heading to Worcester, even if interviews/discussions were in the Courtyard Marriott or at Assumption ( ), doesn't make sense to me. Maybe meet in DC, NYC or some out of the way place in Jersey, but Worcester? Worcester?!! I want the absolute best for Holy Cross. And because of his contributions to Holy Cross, I also want the best for Bob Chesney. And he's a nice guy. We know, whether it happens now, in a month or 10 years from now that Bob isn't hanging around Mt. St. James forever. Our players don't stay forever and would be unfair to expect Bob to do so if he gets the right opportunity. My hope and prayers are that he does not leave until he gets what for him and his family is the right opportunity. "Everything happens for a reason."

Crossports has remained fairly calm about this potential BC move compared to the Syracuse job.

The more this happens, the more it becomes a distraction- I could make a case for this drumbeat of activity searching for the next job can damage a large chunk of the progress built over the past few years.
Nobody is indispensable, so if it happens, it happens. I want us to respond ASAP so we don't lose a roster to the portal and can bring in a strong class built by the coaching staff.

Weather in the winter is slightly better than Worcester, but not significantly so. Avg snowfall 24 inches vs 54 inches. Future Power 4 games include North Carolina, Louisville, VA Tech, Maryland, North Carolina again, UCF. Only one a year, rest are league games, AAC/CUSA/MAC, or FCS.

Wonder how the players, especially the returnees, are feeling ? I am sure they understand this is how the real world works. People try to move up in their job all the time. This seems to me he is now the favorite to be the JMU coach. Don't have to buy a new tie.

Crossports has remained fairly calm about this potential BC move compared to the Syracuse job. Trust me, I've been trying to keep most of my anxiety over this off the board (especially since the JMU found here and specifcally called me out for looking at their board - PS hi guys, please hire someone else)

Relax, I heard it's someone from VA coming to Worcester to take advantage of a sale at Rotman's. I heard it was to pick someone up across the street from Rotman's and not let him out until he got to Virginia.

I been calling Holy Cross a stepping stone for years...and get crushed on here for that. It is a low level D-1 school that if you win, you leave. If you are still there after 10 years, you haven't won enough or the school just doesn't care about your sport.

BC learned he is close, but probably needs an intermediate FBS stop on his way to P4. JMU provides that, as well as a seven figure salary.
