Newman taking a visit with MSU im January Michigan State ? Memphis State ? Michigan State, sorry about that. He has a crystal ball prediction on 247 to Vanderbilt, but I think someone mentioned both his parents are Mich St. grads, so MSU would definitely make a lot of sense for him as well.

Memphis State rebranded as University of Memphis years ago.

Memphis State rebranded as University of Memphis years ago. Towson did the same thing. Funny -- when my cousin was there a handful of years ago, there was actually a retro movement on campus to try and get the name changed back to Towson State. Didn't go very far.

Have these transfers fulfilled their HC graduation requirements ?

Have these transfers fulfilled their HC graduation requirements ? I believe everyone aside from Stu and Rosenberg got their degrees. Matts a special case because I think he only doesn't graduate if he goes to a team that forces him to participate in spring.

Would not every team that wants him as a starter force him to attend spring practice ?

The team in the best position to waive Spring practice would be JMU. I suppose it wouldn't be Kosher for Matt to attend class at HC and then drive to BC for Spring Practice if they wanted him as a grad transfer.
Although if you look at it objectively, it's really no skin off anyone's nose if he were to do so. It would be nice if the NCAA would support student athletes graduating in four years by being flexible with seniors at undergraduate only schools.

I am fairly certain that HC would honor his coursework at a different school and allow him to walk / get his degree. I had an acquaintance who got kicked out of Holy Cross for something disciplinary January or February of his senior year. He was able to take classes at St. John's and HC let him get the degree. And this was a guy who'd already been suspended for a semester in the past. If HC accommodated this guy, they'll accommodate Matthew Sluka.

While this might come across as "unChristian" on my part ("I'm not Christian, I'm Catholic!" ), I hope that you're statement is more conjecture than factual, Not knowing the details, if whatever the transgression was bad enough to not just get suspended but kicked out, I'm disappointed that HC would allow him (her?) an HC diploma. As posted in the past, a relative of mine left HC for academic reasons (never flunked a course but GPA fell too low) and was allowed back after going to a local school, getting his GPA back and graduated from HC. In 10's example, the person wasn't even allowed back on campus. That would seem to be a totally different case and should have been told to go get yourself a St. John's diploma after transferring your HC credits. I believe a Holy Cross diploma should mean more than just getting enough credits. My many professional designations require an ethically element to them as does the legal profession, medical professions, etc. I believe there are similar elements required of HC students, or use to be. Am I being too nasty?

Yes, for one thing they would really want to check out a one-year scholarship kid in some sort of QB competition. (And left unsaid is the notion they can sort of nudge him back to the portal as part of the spring portal flurry...and grab a different portal kid if necessary)

Moreover, I'm pretty certain that Sluka has known he was going to hop in the portal since his sophomore/junior season; with that said, I'm also pretty certain that he adjusted his course load to make sure that he is able to "finish" at HC in a timely fashion so that he can be enrolled at his new school in time for Spring ball. But hey, what do I really know?

But hey, what do I really know? I was wondering about this. I know they have had some summer class availability where players might have picked up a few credits. Many kids come in with some AP credits as well. It really wouldn't be hard to have completed the degree requirements in seven semesters in most majors. I have heard in recent weeks of a few kids we know at various schools who have finished up in December. For kids who don't necessarily find college to be as much fun as many of us did, why not especailly considering the cost?

99, my comment was not about Sluka or any graduate transfer or anyone who left Holy Cross “honorably.”
My comment was about a kid expelled from HC for alleged disciplinary reasons. That’s not the case for any of our football players.
Sorry if I lost you on the turn.

In the case of being expelled, there is no way a degree should be awarded. I am 100% lock-step with you there.

A few of us were confident on the Helms to URI move. URI also has a transfer QB from VA Tech. Would really love for Spence to come home for his 5th year as I think Santos will also bring in a vet at UNH. First 2 games so not much time to break in new CBs.

Correct on Va Tech transfer as well last year at URI. I’ve heard UNH already brought in a transfer QB - just don’t know his name. URI will score - problem is they can’t stop a nosebleed. We will have to score on them. With Laube and QB gone UNH has big holes to fill.
