Ran into a CT high school coach yesterday who played against CH’s team before his transfer to KO. Said he was not very good during those times, but has improved considerably since joining the prep ranks. Typical that bigs at our level take some time to develop, and he should be a force in a year or two.

Watched most of the first half. Some observations. 1- not a strong level of hoops, on either side. St.Andrew’s must struggle in AA. His opposing centers were shorter, with similar skills to Chuck. 2- Despite not having a high level of athleticism, Hare showed multiple skills. 3- Running the court on every possession 4- Catching every pass thrown to him with two hands 5- Pursuing rebounds in his area 6- turning over each shoulder and using the proper hand to shoot. 7- Making correct decisions on when to pass or shoot 8- Can make a 3 9- Active on defense, keeps his hands high: A- can block his own opponent’s shot in low. B- can deflect and on one occasion steal the ball C- committed no fouls when I was watching(keeping hands high helps)
If I think of more, I will add. I believe he will help us rather quickly, especially against bigs of similar size. It will take longer for him to cover quicker centers. At worse, I see him spelling Caleb for 10-15 minutes, which would allow Caleb to play some 4.

An optimist view of next year Move Caleb to the 4 and Hare just might move and run the floor better than our other 5s Pending any unknown portal adjustments, the only potential starters next year from our current roster might be Caleb and Wills If Caleb plays full time 4, that leaves out Joe N, who is not a 3 Caleb at the 4, unless he develops into a shooter, puts one less shooter on the floor. Hare can make them, but I am not sure that is a consistently reliable team weapon You wrote, “..better than our other 5s”. Whom are you thinking of ? Ryan is the only one I can think of.

My worry is that if Chuck isn't ready to contribute who plays the middle? We need another big. I wish Louth could stay another year.

I was thinking 15-20 min per game for Hare —sorry for not being more clear

I was thinking 15-20 min per game for Hare —sorry for not being more clear I think those are great expectations for a kid at his stage of development but who knows? Maybe he makes another big leap this Spring and Summer. Recruiting can be an inexact science.

Certainly is, but the decisions made by the group we signed appear to be better than what we have seen from others this year. But time will tell

Chuck is not playing today or the rest of the season.
Repping HC today on the floor with a Purple HC hoodie.

The scoreboard at Kingwood is in Memory of Gordon Hamilton, ‘91.

He shows a nice faceup jumper, and looks fairly athletic...I hope he can give the team solid minutes off the bench!
