George Connor(OL) played two seasons before transferring to ND. He is all everything and is a member of HC's Hall of Fame. How could Vince Promuto not be on every list. One of the most famous of HC players. Osmanski, Connor, Promuto, Lockbaum, Johnny Turco and more. Maybe not the best?

I'm bored and this is fun to think about. Hope you will indulge. Not sure if this has been done here before, but can you imagine Dom Randolph having Coker as a target with Fenerty in the backfield? This is fun to think about and I'm bored and ready to fall asleep having stuffed myself at a holiday luncheon. Who else do you put on this team? A McGovern representative is a must....take your pick

You've missed the best DB we've had - Jon Provost.

Wiley was never given the chance Why didn’t we participate in the playoffs then?? Not in the entertainment business and may have impacted precious final exams. I’m sure those players from the Wiley and Ciaccio teams would all be much worse off today if we had participated in the playoffs.

Fenerty (when healthy) was the best HC RB ovah the last 50 or so years (my years of HC fandom).....some may go with RI's own Bullet Bill Osmanski Fenerty was completely ridiculous. Never saw any RBs before him so I’ll put him and Jerome on my team. Ciaccio and Wiley at QB. Sluka in a Taysom Hill role.

Based only on college careers, i think the following are the nominations (in no particular order). I'll let you all, based on your superior knowledge, award the winners. Apologies to those left off, no offense intended. Excuse proper name misspellings: All Purpose: Gordie QB: Sluka, Randolph, Wiley, Lentz, Ciacco RB: Fuller, Fuller, Fenerty, Wilson, Sigreti, Silva WR: Coker, Confessor, Roman, Gallahger TE: Andrews OL: Bruce, Golden, Quay or Claro, Promuto, Conner, Ron George DL: Vincent, Puloka - need more help here LB: Dobbs, McGovern, McCabe, Streeter, Flaherty, Dugan (Dave), McBeath DB: Julio, Michael Blake - need more help here as well. Returner: Raymond Jon Morris if you're going back as far as you've gone.

Was going to nominate him myself -late getting to this thread Provost was absolutely outstanding-no one can compare as a safety and was a fantastic punt returner as well

Ya think Fr Brooks in his classic Big East mind set....we can't be travelling during final exams....academics and athletics can not possibly coexist...

Such a shame that those teams were held back by the HC administration.

Just a personal opinion, but I felt a number of TPTB did not believe that HC could compete at the level of football in the playoffs. They wanted to spare the team a thrashing. It may have been a lack of faith more than anything else.

It may have been a lack of faith more than anyuthing else. I have never heard of anyone believing that. We were consistently ranked in the top 10 in the country. What would make someone think we’d experience a “thrashing” in the playoffs.

Answer = A lack of faith in our athletes. I only got this second or third hand and I did say iot was just a personal opinion. I feel it was a misplaced attempt to help our student athletes.

purple1 had him, but I had kind of forgotten how good a D-lineman Steve Raquet was.....he lived in the opponents backfield...had a fairly long CFL career I believe
