Down due to weather? Or are they moving it to a different location? Phreek, you need to get on this!

The webcam went off-line during the snow storm. It was working at the start of the storm. I was checking how much snow had fallen. I believe that cam is the one most vulnerable to weather, as it is the one most exposed to the elements. There looks to be snow still on the roof of The Jo, and if that is so, there may still be snow on the roof of Hogan.
I was told public safety uses the cams, as does facilities (mainly for active construction projects).

The Jo webcam has been down from the start of the week. It appears to be Live, but the image is of a coal mine at night.
Big warm-up forecast starting the middle of next week. I'll send an email to IT tomorrow or Monday.

So is the PPAC webcam, just not black. Only two have been up for more or less a week.

So is the PPAC webcam, just not black. Only two have been up for more or less a week. The webcam feeds go to a network company in NY. In the case of the Prior, the static image of Luth construction indicates there is no feed from the College to the network. In the cas of The Jo, the network is receiving a feed from College Hill. except the only color being streamed is black.

Translation of Phreek's post: "The system is partially broken."

The Jo cam is a camera issue. The issue relates to Tilt / Pan / Zoom mode, Public Safety may have been the culprit, scouring the campus for any fake weapons of mass destruction. That is, the camera has zoomed in on itself.

Update: IT was working on the issue before I contacted them. Perhaps with a thaw coming, the Hogan roof will be a less hazardous work environment.

Checking the cams this morning, a third Hogan cam is now off-line. This cam is the view of the Hoval. Only cam that is on-line is the Dinand cam looking at O'Kane.

The two malfunctioning cams have disappeared from the inventory. The Hoval and O'Kane cams remain. When there were four cams, they were described as North, South, East, West views. That nomenclature has also disappeared from the descriptors.
Phreek will inquire.

Glad HC isn’t running the NRO’s spy satellite programs.

So can we assume the two cameras missing for the last month are gone for good ? that's the one pointed at the Prior and one at the Jo

Is this good or bad? Anyone have a clear idea of what is going on?

Perhaps with nothing going on in front of the web cams other than people walking past, they have decided not to gobble up bandwidth with 4 live streams of grass growing??

The webcams are/were used by public safety, and facilities (when there was construction underway). I inquired whether the Prior and The Jo webcams would be restored, and received no answer.
In my inquiry, I did note that renovations to Hogan had supposedly begun, and suggested this might be impacting the webcams.
The College is undertaking a major revision to its website, so perhaps that is also a factor. I think the webcams are principally for alums and prospective students.

Just checked the webcams, and the third of the Hogan cams, the one showing the Hoval, has now disappeared. Only the cam at the top of Dinand remains.
And this explanation on the webcam page!
"Holy Cross is upgrading our publicly accessible webcams! Soon, you'll enjoy clearer, more vibrant live views of our beautiful campus."
