The person who recently passed away was Frank Oftring III. His father was Frank Oftring,Jr, Holy Cross Class of 1950 who played basketball for HC and was a Freshman on the 1947 NCAA Championship team and co-captain of the 49-50 with a guy named Cousy. He and Cooz owned a gas station and driving school in Worcester and coached HC for I think 4 seasons in the early 1960s.

Frank III played for Holy Name.
In college started out at URI; not sure what happened there (that program at the time was known for its dysfunction). Ended up at "our" Loyola, then D2.
Togo's son Franny played for Loyola as well. Not sure if he went to Holy Name or somewhere else.
Yeah, how did this morph into Mr. Oftring's passing from ACTP's whereabouts?

Someone who goes back that far would know if that's the reason Cousy ended up at BC, not HC. Tough to go for the job if your friend and business partner already had it.

Figured maybe it was a Crossports poster that we would've recognized and thats why it was posted in this thread. Since I started the thread by referencing a well known frequent poster who appears to have taken a sabbatical.
