Hard to imagine somebody in the league had a better week - 16ppg, 6.5rpg, 65% FG, 86% FT, 6 blocks.
We'll see.

I think Austin Benigni for Navy will get it. 22 ppg and Navy won both of their games.
If not him, Mark Butler (Lafayette). 15 ppg, 5 apg, 14-20 FG -- remarkable shooting percentage for a guard.

Had Bucknell not blown a lead and lost in OT at Lafayette, I think Jack Forrest would have had a good shot. In two road games, including a win at Boston U, he averaged 20.5 ppg, 6.5 rpg, and 3.5 apg. But the OT loss at lafayette probably will cost him.

Forgot to mention Noah Williamson, who averaged 18 PPG, 12 RPG, and two BPG in games at Boston U and Lafayette.

Bison, What are your thoughts about your new coach ? Very happy with him so far. But Nathan Davis decimated the program and it will take at least a few years to dig out. Griffin has brought enormous energy to the program and is reconnecting with fans, something that was essential after what Davis did. That is one reason Bucknell chose Griffin instead of Paulson.

Paulsen is reconnecting with us, thank you very much. Why do I get visions of Tommy Smothers saying "Mom always liked you best?"

Nathan Davis, for all his faults, does have UNH 10-7 against D1 teams. They began the year ranked 300 by Pomeroy and are now up to 207, which would rank second in the PL.

Did Davis jump from Bucknell to UNH or did he first get whacked by Bucknell ?

Did Davis jump from Bucknell to UNH or did he first get whacked by Bucknell ? He was fired the day the season ended. About 98% of the fan base wanted him gone a year earlier but contract provisions bought him another horrible year, which made the hole much deeper. AD Truax knew he was going to fire him with at least a month left in the season and was thus prepared to act quickly. Davis was canned about eight days earlier than Nelson, and Bucknell had already interviewed their top candidates twice before Nelson was gone.

Check his record in four years, when he has to rely on his own recruits. And check out how much of the fan base he has driven away. He probably does benefit from being able to recruit low-academic players at UNH - ones who didn't fit under the AI. At Bucknell, his recruiting went from OK to poor to horrendous as time went by. Things got worse when Griffin left to become Associate Head Coach at St. Joes.

It would seem the takeaway here is Bucknell fans, or at least 137, feel about the same about Davis as Crusader fans feel about Nelson.
The only debate might be which of those former head coaches sank their program the deepest while making the least effort toward their respective fan base.

Your last point is an important one. Coach Paulson makes a real and continuing effort to link with his fan base at HC while showing his respect for HC's past success....to which he wants to return. I never felt a connection to Nelson. With him it was as though the fans were an inconvenience or distraction to which he gave little or no thought. That may not be true, but it was simply the impression I got from his lack of fan connection.

Say what you will about the coaching and recruiting of Sean and Milan, they were personable and never gave the impression that the fans/alums were an impediment or inconvenience. Bill C, like Ralph, had a metro NY-type ("Jersey" for BC for you Jerseyites) personality that some may or may not have "gotten." Neither was "warm & fuzzy" but did their best to accommodate us.

Bill C may not have been “warm and fuzzy” to most, however, he was genuine in his concerns about people he had gotten to know, even on a passing basis, while at HC.
Interesting story, one afternoon, after a Saturday game, I had my car hood up and was checking the oil level while in the parking lot next to the Hart. Bill as he was leaving Hart, looked over to me and asked it I needed help. His willingness to provide assistance was totally unexpected.
I gained a great deal of respect of him based on that interaction that was not directly with HC Basketball. It is a real tragedy that life’s interactions did not provide him with a pleasant conclusion to his coaching career.

I think Paulsen is very good at teaching the little things. And he is getting his guys to play good D. Last night they were very good at making switches, and getting to shooter. The guys have not been very good at getting to shooters for most of the season, I believe they now don’t have to think, they just see it before it happens and act on it. Maybe2 times they messed up a switch Last night. It was one of the best defensive games in recent history, IMHO…

There is a time difference between "seeing, thinking of what you're supposed to do, and executing" versus "seeing and reacting automatically through repetition" That time difference may only be a second or even a fraction of a second, but it might also be the difference between contesting a shot and not contesting a shot
