If I remember correctly many of these tragic incidents occurred during WPI's draconian COVID lockdowns.
Safe to say WPI did not handle it very well.

The deaths occurred after WPI had resumed on-campus instruction, and roughly over the fall of 2021 and into January 2022. I believe WPI is om a quarters system

This is a very good article, and I was glad to see that HC took notice of what was happening at WPI. FWIW, the article notes that the WPI student body is largely male, and has a higher than typical percentage of students who are neurodivergent or introverted. I know that MIT has also had a problem with suicides.Hopefully, every school is taking steps to address the mental health issues of its students.

Sadly some colleges address this only after it happens. At times the interventions are often more window dressing than real help. One important factor we found was that there is a far lower risk of completed suicides at schools where students say the people at the institution care about the well being of individual students. The irony here is that this is true even when students say no one cares about them...but they feel their friends are cared about and that is comforting.

About a year ago Princeton University reported that 4 students (3 undergrad and one grad) and one staff member had died of suicide within the last year. Anything that schools can do to reduce isolation, stress, and depression ought to be done. The challenge (as the WPI article repeatedly notes) is detecting these and especially difficult if the student is a bit of a loner and students and staff can't/don't see and report. Tragically, this is a continuing issue at Princeton.
