We are off until Feb 16, so will be doing some scoreboard watching this weekend.
Niagara and Canisius have a weeknight game tomorrow.
Weekend series then consist of --
Army v. RMU
Canisius v. Bentley
Mercyhurst v. RIT
Niagara v. AIC
Air Force v. SHU
Some random thoughts --
Top seed is out of reach, barring a total collapse by RIT, which is hard to see happening.
We have a nice eight point cushion over AFA and and AIC, who are tied for fourth...yet both teams have three games in hand.
I'd say we are Air Force fans this coming weekend.
Niagara is one to monitor. While they are 14 points behind us, they have a whopping five games in hand, and have five of their remaining seven games against teams in the bottom of the league (Mercyhurst and Army).

The time off HC is getting now can only help during the stretch drive and league tournament. Hockey season is a marathon.

Unless rust stops the run early. At least we aren't as short handed as the British Royal Family. Two working Royals are down but Prince Harry is now flying in from the penalty box for a visit.🙂

Based on our prior results this season with SH and Bentley, we have a very good chance to win the remaining 3 games. Go Cross!

It's plain that coaching is a plus factor for Holy Cross. The extended practice time can only leverage that asset.

ASU is an independent. There is room on HC's sparse upcoming schedule if they had wanted to fly to Worcester I would think, unless that exceeded the amount of games either team is allowed to have. Impressive performance for an independent.

This may sound like a dumb question but can someone explain what three in hand means? Thanks

They have played three fewer games than HC

Three in hand is the reverse concept to "one in the hand is worth two in the bush" where already having achieved something is superior to future opportunity where you may achieve the goal or not. I'll take the points already scored and the rest and extra coaching time.

Impressive performance for an independent. ASU has already played 30 games with a 18-6-6 record (they played an exhibition against the club team of Arizona) but interesting enough they have only played six road games this year. They have eight more games scheduled this year with two road games at each of Fairbanks and Anchorage while hosting Anchorage, Fairbanks, and LIU for two game series. I am pretty sure they are at the limit with 38 games scheduled.

Only one number matters in college hockey and it is PWR which has Holy Cross ranked 27th in a tie with Vermont who is in ninth place in Hockey East.

Also tied with Minnesota St, who is second in CCHA and was national runner up in 2022. I understand your objective is to disparage Holy Cross at every chance you get...but being ranked in the top half of PWR after where this program was not too long ago is a damn good accomplishment.

I'll take the points already scored and the rest and extra coaching time. Comes up in MLB a lot- the mantra "The All Important Loss Column". Once you've won a game, they can't take it away from you and playing a bunch of games to even things out burns out your staff, especially these days. Maybe with a handful of games left in the season, it's an advantage, but not until then.

Would have been nice if Air Force beat Sacred Heart last night.
Pios are four points ahead of us with a game in hand.
Fortunately, we still have two games left against them.
We are still in good shape for no worse than third, so long as we earn 3-5 points in our final three games.

Amazingly SHU scored their 3 goals last night while managing only 13 shots on goal for the entire game (AFA had 33 SOG!)

With Air Force beating Sacred Heart tonight, we control our own destiny for capturing the two seed.
