Massey has Army favored by 3 (67-64) with a 58% chance for the win.

I think this is one HC can grab...and needs to. If everyone is healthy that would certainly help.

Hopefully, someone can get some info on what happened to Nugent; what his status is for Saturday; and, as I mentioned in the game thread; I believe Octave is far from 100%.

Here are the updated O-Ratings and D-Ratings from Sports-Reference that I have posted several times. Any surprises from your POV?

In his last 5 games Kahlil, Singleton has earned a KenPom O-Rating (similar to Sports-Reference used in prior post) of 127 or higher. His composite stats in those games
91 Minutes played 56 Points
7-13 on 2 pointers 10-16 on 3 pointers 2-3 on free throws
10 rebounds 4 assists 1 turnover 1 block 1 personal foul 2 steals
I hope we see more of him and that he posts similar numbers
I have no input on his defense

Begs the question why Khalil doesn't play more. For a team that struggles to score most of the time, he's one guy who can help in that department.

Bo Montgomery= (88.1/116.2= (28.1) DeAndre Williams= 85.1/116.7= (31.6) In the case of Caleb, (I'm guessing) these ratings do not take into effect the fact that he is almost always competing against guys that are bigger than he is. I'll grant you that he is not a great foul shooter, and takes no three pointers, but his ratings here imho do not represent his value to the team. Not really shocked by any of the others, to be honest.

Bo and Batch supremely disappointing, if we are being brutally honest.

Re: Singleton and Wills. Didn't see anything in the game last night that would say NOT to play them more, vis-a-vis Williams* and Batch.
First time down the court after Singleton got in, he got stuck in the middle of the lane, wasn't even what you would call a designed play; and his man got a wide open 3 look which he made. But those defensive ratings above don't indicate he's worse than his competition.
*Williams was a turnover machine last night, and he compounded that with terrible shot selection. At about the 15 minute mark of the second half, he followed up one turnover pass with an even worse pass that was somehow grabbed by an HC guy, complete luck. Surprised Paulsen didn't yank him, wasn't helping the team or himself at that point.

Bo and Batch supremely disappointing, if we are being brutally honest. Some games Batch is just swallowed up by the opponent and I don't think there's a good reason to play him as much.

But he did have 11 points on 4-9, 3-5 from three Led us with 8 rebounds and 4 assists.

Bo and Batch supremely disappointing, if we are being brutally honest. It seems to this non-expert that Bo is athletic and makes some very impressive plays but that he has many “off nights”. His o-rating from KenPom, for those who value his analyses, has never been good or even average for a season.

Somewhat off topic, HC is tied in the standings with Army. A loss would put HC a full game behind Army and they would have swept HC. A loss would likely have HC finish the season behind Army. A win puts HC up by one with a very tenuous hold on tiebreaker. Army is done with the top two teams. HC still has a meeting with top seed Colgate. I think Army is more likely to finish ahead of HC if they lose Saturday than HC finishing ahead of Army with a loss on Saturday
-------------------------------------
Because Senior Day only happens on Saturdays now and HC's last two home games are on Wednesdays, we have the unusual situation of senior day in the middle of February. There are 5 seniors on this squad. Three of whom have given four years to the program.
First four year players to have a senior day since DJ Hart two years ago. First four year scholarship players in three years (Faw & Butler). The last two home games have brought in good crowds. It would be nice if there was a good crowd for HC Hoop's class of '24

With 5 scholarship seniors being honored today, I wonder when was the last time we had 5 scholarship seniors ? 1 last season

With 5 scholarship seniors being honored today, I wonder when was the last time we had 5 scholarship seniors ? 1 last season I can think of some classes of 4 (most recently 2019), but last class of 5 off the top of my head is '93 (Breslin, Mashburn, Powell, Walker, and Farkus). I'm probably missing something although 5 would be a rarity

Probably won't happen, but it would be nice if just before, say the under 8 timeout in the first half, Paulsen puts Rabs in for a cameo.

4 for 11 on twos and 2 for 15 on threes--have to believe that will improve dramatically in second half

Anyone else seeing a bit of Bill Russell in Caleb's blocking ability? Similar cat like movement.
