Six points down then a banked trey by Navy and Joe O. fouls out.

Bingo, Dave. This team is Nelson-soft. Current staff must be frustrated with this. Gerrale Gates wasn't soft. Gates was the exception.

Not sure why we are content allowing Navy to burn 30 seconds off the clock here when we are down seven. Need to pressure the ball, IMO.

We are, essentially, in 9th place after this loss.
Army and Navy are "ahead" of us due to tiebreakers.

Killer foul there.....it was correct too unfortunately....ballgame.
Disappointing.....these were the type of games I thought we'd win this year which we lost last year.

At least our veterans Octave, Kenny and Bo are in a good scoring groove heading to the playoffs.

If you watch the Bullis/Georgetown Prep video and see how dynamic a PG Tyler Boston is, you can take some consolation in the thought that with him in charge at the point, we are going to be a better team next year.
Add some additional scoring with Max Green and better times are ahead.

Love the optimism, but until we establish a culture of winning consistently, kids will come to HC and if they play well, they’ll transfer up the D1 food chain. I think DP is an offensive minded coach and let’s remember that our only NCAA/NIT performances after 1993 were defensive minded teams. The Willard teams were matchup zone teams that rebounded well and Camody’s NCAA team ran that gimmick 1-3-1 zone with a tough Oakland kid, Eric Green.

Kyrell Luc was 2022 PL Rookie of the Year, transferred to St. Bonnie's and is averaging 2.4 ppg. Joe Pridgen was 2020 PL Rookie of the year, transferred out, ended up forty miles down the street on his third team and is averaging 8.1 ppg. Those are the two who accomplished the most at HC before leaving and they haven't reached those types of accolades since.
Players should have freedom to transfer but it's no magic bullet.

Add some additional scoring with Max Green and better times are ahead. We’re 362/362 on AdjD per Kenpom. Dead last in all of D1. This is about 70 spots worse than last year under Nelson who many considered to be the worst coach in HC history. The far more important component and perhaps only way we become a significantly better team next year is if the newcomers are strong individual contributors on defense.

Gerrale Gates was a force on defense as well as offense. His defensive rebounding prevented many second and third attempts. It is very hard for Caleb and Joe N. to consistently defend bigger, stronger and talented bigs. This year’s freshmen have some better defenders, especially DeAndre.

So Louth got benched for fouling a guy shooting a 3? Or did something else happen badly when he was out there (kind of missed a couple junctures in the first half)?
Ryan got a hoop, then displayed beyond a reasonable doubt that he has no mobility whatsoever. One guy drove by him in the second half like he wasn't even there.
Paulsen and the staff have to ride this young man hard to see if they can improve that.

When I saw that player blow by him as Ryan stood there in the lane it was hard to believe. I believe the team has improved its play and continues to do so, but it will take at least another year to see any major change in the won/lost record. Of course, some folks still say that any good player who comes to HC will leave to move up. That sort of defeatism is hardly something you want to hear from any fan and could actually help some to decide to do what that fan suggests. Yes, two key players who were performing well at HC transferred and they have yet to reach anthing like the level they showed at HC at their new "homes." I hope the current players are smart enoiugh to not make the same mistakes. After all, the HC coach they play for was not there when those transfers occurred.

I don't feel like DP plays favorites; but I did have to say to myself "if Louth got yanked for one grievous mistake, how does this kid stay on the court after that?". Hope it was because Ryan's been looking better in practice and Louth hasn't.

0-4 vs. Army/Navy; 6-6 vs the rest of the PL.

A couple of non-coach offensive observations: 1) they rarely throw skip passes to try to find an open shooter on the other side of the court; 2) while several guys do try to put the ball on the floor and go to the hoop, they rarely go all the way to the rim. Most often, they come to a hard stop, pivot, and then either look around for someone close by to pass it to,or force up a shot. You almost never see someone drive and then quickly kick it out to someone behind the 3 point line.
I don't think lack of shooters is the problem, imho. I think the ball rarely gets to where it needs to be on many possessions.

George Mikan starting for Navy Expected to see MPLS on the front of the shirt instead of NAVY. I think that's the first opponent that's had a previously illegal number that wasn't single digit.

0-4 vs. Army/Navy; 6-6 vs the rest of the PL. And likely to play either Army or Navy in the first round.
Heh.....maybe the old adage of "It's hard to beat a team three times in a row." will prevail.

In the game he played against GT he did each of the passes you mention.
