Too bad the women don't have a NIL fund.
Seems to me Portnoy should make a nice donation with all the money they made him last night.

Watching tonight it's difficult to understand how we managed to lose 12 games, but at least we're peaking at the most opportune time. Callie Wright starting is a difference maker. The 1-5 swoon (1/27 - 2/17) coincided with Simone's offensive struggles, Then MM took her out of the starting lineup, and HC has gone 7-2 since, with Wright starting eight of those nine games. She's averaged 7 and 7 per 40 in that span, and given us much-needed quickness, length and presence down low defensively.

Football at So Dakota St was espn2 - that’s cable - I’m referring to national network such as CBS/NBC etc… Got it, but still a linear network. This is a good trivia question. Did any of our BC football games air on a national network? Ancient, but The 1977 NCAA hoops game vs Michigan was on national TV, I believe.

According to espn analytics we were 1.5 pt favorites and the over/under was 117.5 (actual total was 117 !)

The Marquette, Kansas, and Kentucky games all were, as this was before every game was aired. I think they broadcasted games regionally back then.

HC has been on national TV prior to the 2020s. It's nothing new.

Did any of our BC football games air on a national network? Yes under Carter when 1-AA was new and confusing. I remember the sign at Alumni designed to attract the ABC cameras: Ain't we Bowl Contenders, too?

It is new, imo I’m talking about free major network telecast where the game is seen in all 50 states simultaneously (not espn which is cable which you pay for) I think the answer is the 1977 basketball game with Michigan

Because her movement, sure-handedness and shooting was a work in progress and now we are seeing the fruits of her and the coaches hard work? Cahalan, who is not a shy shooter has emerged from the recesses of the bench also. Perhaps Donnelly was ahead of each at some point. Berger's spins under the basket last night were very quick even though she missed one or more bunnies. Perhaps UTM didn't want to play too close on defense to avoid foul trouble. Iowa defenders will be much tougher.

Too bad the women don't have a NIL fund. Seems to me Portnoy should make a nice donation with all the money they made him last night. With an NIL package worth $25-30K, Coach could possibly get one of the four seniors to take a second major and stay at HC for her Covid fifth year instead of gaining a year of graduate school somewhere else with probably no or little NIL at this stage of WBB, or getting a start in the world of work. It brings up a good question of who the chosen few MBB players are who are better investments for NIL money instead of using it for recruits and transfers or banking it? Caleb for sure. The money has to be handled well by Coach Paulsen because many people think they deserve more and their co-worker deserves less. NIL recipients will probably respond more like workers once they start getting paid. I suppose NIL will be similar to FCS scholarships with different players getting different amounts of money and that hasn't been an issue that we've heard about so it's probably not going to be a big deal.

Really respect UT-M's McMillan - stand-up guy, and a player's coach.

Really respect UT-M's McMillan - stand-up guy, and a player's coach. He could have paraphrased a Mike Dukakis line "I wanted to run for President in the worst way possible, and I did." UT-M lost their conference championship and got blown out in the play-in game but emerged as a very likeable, very easy to root for team.
