I'll take a stab at the last position group - Linebacker
1. 3 Studs returning in Dobbs, Anderson and Doran. All three make plays in quite a different style. Anderson can come off the edge and play in coverage - entered HC as a DB. Doran seems to be a downhill thumper type of LB and Dobbs goes sideline to sideline while also blitzing well. Hopefully they stay healthy as this trio will be a massively productive group. 2. I think you have very capable backups in Monte and Bolden. Again - very different styles. Bolden appears to be a Doran type and Monte more of a Dobbs type - undersized in the height department but makes plays. Hopefully Dickson will assert himself and become the 6th linebacker. 3. You have Leo and now Kane (per previous posts) in this group to provide depth and special teams play. 4. Incoming Boyer looks to be a steal per some reports. He was on his way to Navy before he hurt his knee and HC was able to pick him up in the first signing period. He had a bunch of accolades after his junior year in VA for hopefully he is 100% healthy and ready to contribute.
I don't have a ton of concerns with this group as the top 3 are exceptional and they have 2/3 very capable backups.
LB has to be a huge focus in the 2023 recruiting class IMO. 2/3 full ride type of players hopefully sign in December to replenish the cupboard as there Anderson and Doran are leaving. Time will tell on Dobbs.

Not that it matters to anyone but Marcus Romboli signed with Merrimack. Look for him on 2 deep. He’s essentially going to be a 21 year old freshman.

May 11th and no Point Guard. What's the wait? By my count, HC has 5 guards on the roster. If 2-3 can't bring the ball upcourt, even against the press, and set up the offense, we have a real problem. I do wish RJ had stayed, moreso than K Luc, but let's not make this more complicated than necessary. Back in the day, HC had a 6'7" point forward who was a great outlet against the press. They are basketball players, some of whom are used to having the ball in their hands regularly. The age of specialization has spun out of control. It has led to things like an NFL roster spot set aside for a long snapper. Isn't that what centers did for 50 years? I respectfully disagree with this take. There is a reason why 95% of the programs have a designated point guard. Most specifically to distribute the basketball, but also to break down pressure, to have the ball in their hands at the end of the game to hit free throws, to defend smaller quicker players, etc. We can't just use the above argument because HC doesn't have one. HC watched their top 2 point guards leave the program. They've known it for a little bit. It should be priority #1. Brutal - again. Brutal meaning the Coach.
