I just received this from HC:
It is with great sadness that I write to tell you Fr. Tony Kuzniewski, S.J., passed away peacefully at 10 p.m. last night at Campion Center in Weston, MA. Fr. K was a beloved figure here at Holy Cross for so many years, and had an impact on all who knew him. He will be very much missed.
Arrangements are being finalized; I will share details when they become available. In the meantime, please keep Fr. K and his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.
Maggie

I don't think missing all of these layups and 3-5 footers is a culture thing. The PO is setting the team up for a lot of easy shots. We just have to make them. There is still hope for a good PL season.

We've had our issues at HC, but not quite as bad as the past two seasons at Lafayette (3-19). Football Scoop is the first to report: footballscoop.com/The-Scoop/My bet is that either Tim Cramsey or John Loose is at the top of the list. Would Kevin Higgins return to the PL? CTG goes 9-26 over 3 seasons ('12 -'14) and gets an extension. You really can't make this stuff up. We should be well into our rebuilding phase with a new coach going into his third season.

Apparently awful, awful decision. Only makes sense if ADNP has someone in mind who will be available next year and is not available this year. He may want to spend money to get a real coach in 2018 and needs to wait a year so as not to double pay for 2017. I just feel terrible for the players, students, and fans who have to endure another losing year under CTG.

While there is no dispute that the PL has not helped our sports generally, there really is no excuse for being this bad within the PL. Over the past five seasons our record in the PL is 10-20 with no winning records (best was last season's 3-3). The PL was supposed to get us Ivy games which were supposed to be competitive. Our record against Ivys in the last 5 seasons is 2-9. We really need a coaching change. We have to become competitive within our league before we can think about going elsewhere.

"Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." Albert Einstein
It doesn't take Einstein to see that it is well past time for a change. He has achieved consistently poor results for seven years. We have squandered great marketing opportunities by having his teams playing especially poorly on big occasions; e.g., the two night games at home and Saturday's Fordham/Yankee Stadium game. I don't want to see him at the helm for BC. Let's wish him well and move on.

So far so good with Clifford. Why did CTG wait so long? Why did Clifford not start? Because he looked horrible last week? Come into the game at the half or soon thereafter, sure....but if he started it would have been outrageous. While I didn't see the game, from the stats it did not appear that Clifford got much of a look against Lehigh. He threw 2 passes, with one completion and one interception. An argument could be made that CTG should have given him more of a shot in that game as well. Bell threw 3 interceptions that day and we got crushed. It just seems that Clifford has a lot more upside than Bell.

While PL football will never be high end FCS football, it can be what we want it to be, competitive well played games both within conference and against Ivies and other similarly situated small eastern schools. Our problem with PL has been holding on to CTG for at least two years too long. We should be well within our rebuilding process by now. Unfortunately, we will be in the midst of a coach search and a new football identity for the next few years. I am hoping that the new coach can turn things around quickly. It is difficult to blame ADNP who had his hands full with basketball which may have prevented him from acting on football as quickly as he would have liked.

Clifford was not starting ahead of Bell because . . . ? Maybe Bell was just having a bad day, but this kid looks very good.

Punt coverage has been very good, but may be due to so many repetitions today.

I like the mid-day games too, just not on Sunday. I would much rather go to game, have dinner with friends, stay over, and have breakfast at Miss Worcester Diner. Once a year, we have a group of 30-40 people get together for a weekend mini-reunion around a basketball game. With folks coming in from as far as Chicago, Columbus, and DC, Saturday works much better than Sunday.

This may be rehashing old news, but in looking at the schedule, there is only one home game on a Saturday all season!?!?!? We play Lehigh and Navy away on Saturdays so it can't be just a PL thing. The women's team plays 5 home games on saturdays. It is tough to take in a lot of games if you are driving a distance and can't take off Monday. Anyone know why this is?
