Best chance of a Fitton sell out would be UConn in Worcester. Their fans travel really well. Although maybe not lately since they are so very bad. I doubt they'd come to Worcester though. The attendance for our game at Rentschler wouldn't have sold out Fitton Field. It actually drew less than one Holy Cross-Harvard game I've been to. In a world where either would come to Worcester, the two local teams that sell out Fitton are BC and Army. UMass, maybe.

Love the breakdown, midwest. Thanks for doing the homework for me.
Even if everything breaks right, HC is still going to be on the wrong side of the bubble...BUT, we will at least be in the conversation on Sunday.
Who knows, maybe the committee really sees value in close losses to a P5 team that's going to a bowl and playing Army to a much more competitive game than top 25 Air Force did?

This won't happen, but it would be a positive for the program. Future schedules- given no changes in conference affiliation PL 6 games (3 Home) One Buy Games BC, Syracuse- Army- Navy- USAFA-Rutgers Annual Games UConn and UMass- one home and one away- not a buy-game Play two each year - one home and one away Harvard-Yale-Dartmouth- Princeton ( H/A) 12-game season, add one more buy-game It gives us five home games each year and local flavor with 2 FBS programs- UConn and UMass. Next year's schedule is a great one and not too far off. 12 game season. We have the one buy game -- Syracuse We have the two Ivies -- Harvard and Yale Great local flavor with URI, UNH, and Bryant It seems like what would make this perfect is swapping out Bryant for UMass or UConn. Unfortunately, just not realistic given that we can't have "annual" games with an FBS opponent, as they can only count one FCS game/team towards their bowl eligibility. Bearing that in mind, next year's schedule is damn near perfect in my eyes.

2,250 at Hart tonight. Thats my prediction. I think that's wishful thinking, but could be in the vicinity. I went back to look at attendance in FHCBN's first home game at HC (Tuesday night against Fairfield, so similar circumstances as tonight against SHU) -- 1,712 attendance. For FHCBC, his first home game was a Thursday night against UNH -- 1,794 attendance. Despite the win over Georgetown and a new coach in town who is very likable and already made a great impression...it's a Tuesday night game against an opponent that isn't exciting. I'll give a bit of a bump in attendance thanks to Georgetown win and some buzz around the program and say 1,981.

HCDP accomplished something in his second game that his predecessor never was able to do. Any guesses? Out of conference road win? Got it.

Watched the whole game. My first game seeing a "live" HC game (I watched on TV) in at least two years, besides reading religiously here and checking the stats. Some things that stood out: Turnovers were in some cases a case of guys misreading cuts, or breaks behind defenders, and not being on the same page. Some were ill-advised passes. Nevertheless, the team never looked scrambled, or back on their heels. They answered every run by the Hoyas, and didn't let the game go to blowout status like would happen for at least the past ten years prior. HC boxed out very well and was aggressive on the glass on both ends. Not sure I watched many games where I was satisfied with that effort in an HC game in two decades. I kind of hate to call out an individual player, but Batch didn't belong in that game. I'm not sure what he did last year (and the team was terrible last year so does it really matter?), but he was a boy among men in this game. Each time he touched the ball, he bounce-step dribbled five times away from the defense towards half court and picked up his dribble. He contributed zero, save for perhaps passing defense, and then had one of the biggest brain farts on a basketball court this side of a Fab Five timeout. If I am going to do likewise in a positive sense, Octave was not going to lose the game. He didn't even break a sweat. An ice cold killer who wouldn't be denied. The team played very tough in the paint despite being undersized. They took hits and got to the line. They got their hands on rebounds and loose balls. The dished out some heat too around the bucket. They defended that territory with gusto, playing the right way on defense and down low. Some great points here. On Batch, I agree in the sense that the game looked too fast for him, at times. It almost seemed as if he knew he couldn't get a good look whenever he wanted, but when one presented itself he had to take the shot. It is interesting that down the stretch against Siena, he wasn't on the floor at all, but played the final 10:16 against Georgetown. At the low-major / PL level, he's going to be more than fine. I'm not too worried about him. He's had a tough first 80 minutes to begin the season, but I saw more than enough from his as a freshman to know he'll be fine. I'd like to see him play off the ball more. I think that might make him a bit more comfortable. This kid can flat out shoot. 39% 3PT last season. We're going to need him this year.

Really, guys? Come on. We know that they only way the Crusaders get into the playoffs is as the automatic PL champion qualifier which means a win over Georgetown and a Lafayette loss to Lehigh. No other way. No other permutations are getting us in. We know it. The players know it. The coaching staff knows it. We win Saturday and Lafayette wins Saturday, a tie goes to Laffy in the head-to-head and with neither a win over BC nor Army, close as we came, was "close but no cigar." We are out and finished for the season. Painful as that is to write. We can't get in without help from the Mountain Hawks. I don't happen to care whether some conference gets 3 or 4 or 5 teams into the playoffs. I care about one team - Holy Cross. And the PL isn't getting 2 teams this season but would have for sure if we beat BC and Army. We didn't. Close counts only in horseshoes and grenade throwing. Agree with your entire post...but I think that we'd have been on the right side of the bubble at 8-3 with a win over Army.

Because I'm a sicko, you better believe I'm seeing this through. The following teams were eliminated yesterday: Hampton Tennessee State Elon Duquesne The following teams are still able to reach seven Division 1 wins. Those who are not listed here will not be able to receive an at-large bid. Big Sky Montana Idaho Montana State Sacramento State UC Davis Big South / OVC UT Martin Gardner-Webb Eastern Illinois CAA Delaware Richmond Villanova Albany William & Mary Rhode Island Missouri Valley South Dakota State South Dakota Northern Iowa Southern Illinois North Dakota State North Dakota Youngstown State Illinois State Patriot Lafayette Fordham Holy Cross Pioneer Davidson Drake Southern Furman Chattanooga Mercer Western Carolina Southland Incarnate Word Nicholls UAC Austin Peay Central Arkansas Duquesne of the N.E.C. is 6-4. Not sure if they are locked as the auto bid with two other teams capable of tying them at 5-2 in the league. But if they get to seven wins no other team can win the title and if they end up at 6-5 they might still get the auto bid but no N.E.C. team will get seven wins. If Merrimack beats Duquesne next week, they'll get the auto bid (both teams will have finished 5-2 in the NEC, but Merrimack wins by virtue of head to head). LIU could finish in a three way tie with Duquesne and Merrimack, but they'd lose the tiebreaker having lost to both of these schools.

In the presser linked, Coach Paulsen is asked about it. The assistants all went up to Paulsen and told him they had this and don't kill him I too was stunned when he took that shot. However looking at it now, it was actually beneficial to HC. Had he not taken the shot, he would have been fouled quickly. If he made both, HC would have been up 3 with around 6 seconds left...LOTS of time for G'Town to get up a good looking 3 to tie. The miss created an almosy 4 second play that changed what G'town could do! This crossed my mind as well. Ended up working out well. Batch or another player could have missed one of the free throws. All of a sudden Georgetown has enough time to get a look for the win. Why didn’t any of the reporters question Cooley what he was looking to do on that inbounds play at the end of the game? That was awful.

In watching the highlights and seeing Batch take that very ill-advised three, can we assume he thought we were trailing 67-66? Only explanation, right?

It is interesting that in our last two losses (Lafayette and West Point) Sluka ran a total of 65 (!!) times. In both cases our receivers were predicted to have very good games and certainly had very favorable matchups. In those two losses we completed just 23 passes for 241 yards. (It is also true [FWIW] that Sluka gained an amazing 500 (!!) yards on the ground in those two losses.) It's a very fair question to ask whether we'd have been better off with either of the following: 1) Sluka, but we use fewer design running plays for him and he picks his spots when to run. 2) Pesansky slings the ball around the field 35+ times. Granted, Army was probably playing a bit of a prevent defense on our final offensive drive, but we effectively moved the ball down the field when we decided to actually pass. Coker and Shorter are better than anyone Army had in their secondary.

22-10 run to end the game. I’d have to really think about the last time a guy dominated a game for us in a win quite like Joe Octave tonight. That was spectacular. I go back to Kevin Hamilton in Puerto Rico against Chattanooga (I think). Wow. Malcolm Miller at Bucknell in Milan’s last game? Yes but that was a loss. I’m talking about a win.

Paulsen beat a Big East team in roadie game number two.
We are so back.
