How important is it to you folks that an alumni gets the job?

How could this same team beat UNH ? Many UNH fans wondering the same thing! My guess is UNH overlooked Holy Cross maybe like the Cross did to Lafayette. Hey upsets happen! Any Given Saturday!

getting back to the topic here - I was there and in two words 'very disappointing'. unh did not travel well and I'd say there were 'maybe' 5000, although that's through purple-tinted glasses. I agree start times in Sep-Oct should be moved back to 2 or 3 pm. FCS football attendance in the northeast is a real problem that doesn't seems to have a solution. It would be great if the capacity at Fitton was reduced by 8-10000, but I understand that's just too expensive. [b I believe you can include FBS football in your argument for poor attendance in New England. BC isn't selling out games and when they do it's to serve their opponent i.e. Norte Dame. The problem is New England is a pro sports area and I don't see that changing which will impact attendance.

I asked a number of the usual suspects here if they thought UNH fan was at the game. We would have loved to have met you. I have posted frequently of my trips to Durham and how very friendly and welcoming the locals and students are up there . . . . like they are happy to see us visiting even if we are clad in purple. I certainly would have liked to return the favor. After all the close and not-so-close losses to the Wildcats, I was happy to see us win and win big but tempered that feeling because I felt we were beating a "class" team and staff. Good luck to the Wildcats going forward. It would have been an honor to meet some of you fine gentlemen. Perhaps at the UNH Cross basketball game.

A question for the faithful. Is there a QB on the current roster that will be able to step in and keep this success going? Many people are high on 6-6 freshman QB Connor Degenhardt--believe he was a 3 Star recruit, son of a Crusader football alum. I am taking "keep this success going" to mean next season. Yes I'm talking next year. I think the Cross wins the PL this year and goes dancing! It sounds like 6-6 QB that success should continue!

The lack of UNH attendance was shocking to me. You would think a school with probably fifty thousand or more alumni parents and Friends within 50 miles of Worcester would turn out to watch the #9 team in the country and their closest road game of the year. Sadly I think the fan base has just gotten used to being ranked as I believe we had the second longest streak for being ranked. UNH seems to travel well for CAA games and FBS but besides that not so much. Not sure how to explain it heck we still have trouble getting people to stop drinking to come into the game. This week with homecoming will be a great example. Their will be over 25k tickets sold and maybe a qtr will leave the tailgate.

I was really shocked how low the attendance was for yesterday. I remember a Thursday night game about five years back between these two teams and I had to park up at the basketball complex because there was no where else to park. Yesterday parking was easy with every lot appeared to have openings. I would be shocked if there were 7k in that stadium yesterday as if there were half must half left or got lost after halftime. Any plans to do any renovation work to your stadium? I would think adding some purple chair backs to at least the home side would spruce it up a bit and could help the Cross bring in some more revenue. I was also surprised with the lack of concessions. As there was none on the visitors side besides the ice truck that ran out of water yesterday. Are there better concessions on the home side? Sorry about your poor experience at Fitton (but not the outcome of he game ). There is much work needed, but for now "patching up" seems to be the order of the day. As a fan of a state university that ranks 49/50 for state aid I understand. I'm guessing that being a private school the Cross could raise funds for a renovation much quicker. To me Fitton with some work, purple and chair backs could be something special for your community.

Either way, we got dominated. We lost shots 26-3 and shots on goal 8-1. Makes up for the upset the Cross pulled last year when we came to Worcester as a ranked team

Isn't a total of 26 shots on goal an extraordinary barrage? Aren't there usually just 5 or 6 shots on goal per team per game? It would be beyond extraordinary IF correct. I have followed soccer for many decades, and I'm not sure I ever saw a goalie with 24 saves. However that was not the case tonight. There were actually eight shots on goal, and the holy cross goalie made six saves. There were 26 shots in total, but 18 of them were not on goal. That is kind of a normal ratio. My bad I don't follow soccer and misread the box score.

Cross fall to the #16 Wildcats 2-0. Your goalie had a great night stopping 24 shots!

The Cross has the potential to pull the upset. You have a veteran QB who will be the 2nd best QB we face behind JMU's QB. It's your opener, Ring if Honor Day I would assume the fans and kids will be pumped up. Cats can't afford to look ahead to CAA play need to give the Cross respect and bring it on Saturday. I'm confident Coach Mac will have them ready to go.

We'll never know whose better as UCONN will not play UNH. That being said Uconn has more scholarships players than UNH hence you could say they have more talent. Now I would argue the top FCS leagues such as the CAA match up and would be successful against a lot of G5 schools.
All of that doesn't matter come Saturday the Nationally Ranked Cats have to come to Worcester and be ready to play. The one thing Coach Mac does a great job of is respecting our opponents every week and being ready to go.

Correct but there's absolutely no reason for that not to happen. It makes too much sense for all involved (HC, Worcester) with the exception of some clown named Clint Rucker and he will be gone in just a few short years. You didn't answer my question what is the other school that you think is going to come in? I could not tell you but I can't believe HE will wait forever for Holy Cross and I don't see the Railers willing to work with you to make it happen.

You have to wonder how long will HE wait before my bing on to a different team? What other team? ?? Q: already said no Niagara? Army? RIT? Now that the Holy Cross women are in the door will be held open to enable us to figure out the scheduling which will happen in the next year. We'll find out. If you guys can't get a deal to play in the DCU center HE won't happen.

UNH fan: While there may be some validity to that, going back to '09, HC played Villanova, the eventual national champs in the first round of the 1-AA playoffs down at 'nova and hardly got steamrolled. Score was 14-14 at the half and 21-14 into the 3rd quarter and eventually lost 38-28 and, as I recall, that was the closest game Villanova had in the playoffs. We lost to you guys in '11 at your place 39-32, again, hardly "steamrolled." I think the game at Fitton this year will be a lot closer with an outside chance we will take the win but pretty sure we won't get rolled over. All that said, I appreciate your perspective, insights and as I have found whenever I travel up to Durham, the UNH people are polite, friendly and welcoming. Keep posting. [b Gentlemen appreciate your thoughts and a lot of you go further back then I do with football. I was just speaking to the last ten years as it seems like the sun rising UNH or another CAA team gets the PL champ in a first round game. I've attended most of those games in Durham and they haven't been close for the most part and these were good teams that came to Durham. As for this year's game I think you have a good chance to pull the upset as this is not a great UNH team. Lots of youth and a qb who while he was victorious last year I'm not sure he's gotten better. This could be the year are nation's best playoff stark comes to an end.

Nova win very close I'm surprised by that. Why? If I recall you have been overly effusive in your praise of all things Holy Cross football. Given that your school and Villanova are at the top of the ACA and Lehigh is ahead of us these days, why would it surprise you that the Engineers and Wildcats would have a close and competitive game? Now that the Patriot league is at its full complement of scholarships I would hope and think that the Gap has narrowed significantly especially among our top two or three schools against non-conference competition. Because I've seen the PL champion usually get steamrolled in the playoffs and usually by a CAA team. For example last year when Lehigh came to Durham and loss 63-21 if my memory is correct. I just think that Nova is a much better team and would have won by 14 pts. But as they say for every team in the country any given Saturday.

How does the prices at the Cross compare to your PL counterparts. I'll buy GA tickets when I come down for the UNH game.

Maybe someone should tell him that D3 schools put the emphasis on the education over the sport. He can't have his kids taking "classes" like he did at UCONN.
