But no one watches practice? Ever? What the heck it's Sunday night I'll bite. I'm sure a couple of people might occasionally come by and watch practice if that is ok with the coaching staff at football programs all across the country. Is it your belief that the stands should have been packed for an unannounced intersquad scrimmage. I feel like some folks on the board just want to complain and put down the ways thing are at Holy Cross just to do it. At times I feel you guys could make a deep run in the playoffs and some would be yea but you know we should have done better, back in the 1930's we were a national power, we should be playing Notre Dame etc. I don't get it. You have a wonderful school full of actual student athletes enjoy what college sports are supposed to be. I know I'm looking forward to coming down to Worcester this fall to watch my Wildcats play in football and basketball this year. Let's not look to make everything a negative about your program ie. no one is watching a inter squad scrimmage, where only in the PL, we don't get enough fans etc. Enjoy it!

At 2:50 PM on Aug 11, there were 72 guests. 41 were viewing men's hoops, 18 viewing women's hoops. Figured another board had posted that HC was getting a NBE invite. I'm assuming your comment is made tounge in cheek. Folks have to move on from the Big East fantasy. It's like still thinking about the high school girl that you should have gone to the dance with.

Scrimmage closed to the public???....shots of the stands show a record crowd...record low, that is, 0![/quote Like most college teams the only scrimmage that people know about a head of time is the fall game. These other scrimmages are not advertised.

When I was with UNH hoops, we hosted Florida when Bonner was on the team. Interesting you guys brought up Friel, we played them in a tourney at Furman and Gerry's other son was at Dartmouth while his youngest was a walk-on at UNH. Gerry was a class act and never complained about the challenges he faced at UNH. Wasn't the Florida game also one of the few games UNH basketball has played at the Whittemore Center? No they played all of their games under Jeff Jackson at the Whit and played a good amount for Phil Rowe's early years.

I think, as HChoops says, that it is just that BC was desperate for games and Hartford will play the next two years at BC. Baker Jr. was a very lightly recruited player who only committed in early May. No reason to give him a home game or do a favor for his Dad before he's ever even suited up - especially given that he might not even be good enough to ever play. According to VC, Baker had only one other offer - Bryant.
An ACC team so desperate for games that they decide to go on the road to play a team that they usually pay to come to their house. I guess it's a possibility but there must be some reason BC is coming to Uhart. On the AE boards the same questing is being asked but no response yet from the Hawk fans.
I think it's likely that it will turn out to be a two-for-one, with Hartford playing at BC the next two years. In that sort of arrangement, BC doesn't have to pay any money to Hartford, having instead "paid" by giving them a good home game. That arrangement would save BC a lot of money, which isn't a bad thing for a program that doesn't draw well for most home games. BC's likely attendance for a home game with Hartford would be about 2500 - so they really couldn't afford to pay any normal guarantee without taking a loss. BC last year drew about 2100 for home games with Stony Brook and Towson. Can't fund a true buy game with those sort of numbers. [/quote] That makes a lot of sense. I would guess Hartford will have a good size crowd if not a sell out for that game. A good opportunity for them to pull the upset.

Duke played at Dartmouth around 15 years ago as a favor to a kid Duke had from New Hampshire I believe your confusing UVA and UNC with Duke. Virginia played at Dartmouth as one of the Friel boys played for UVA. Of course Gerry Friel was the longtime basketball coach at UNH and the man for whom the court is named for. Dean Smith also brought his Tar Heels to Hanover to play Dartmouth.

The rumor I've heard is because Vin Baker JR is a freshman at BC and daddy played at Hartford which made this happen.

Along that line, does anyone have an idea of what the daily schedule is looking like? If I remember we used to practice from 9-11AM ish, lunch break, nap, film, back out there at 3PM. Still the same idea? [b No more two a days! FCS has gotten rid of them. It makes each practice even more important.

If you don't mind an outsiders opinion with your QB returning Holy Cross has a chance to win every game on your schedule. He was far away the best QB I saw UNH face last year. I just hope he has an off day when my Cats come to Worcester 😀!

I've heard American and UNH have signed a new H and H contract. This year's game will be in Durham. Very cool if true! The last two games have been good ones and I hope you share my view that it's a good OOC matchup for both schools. Also: St. Francis (PA) officially announced its OOC sked today and we play at Loretto on Nov. 29, continuing our years-long series with the Red Flash. I love playing a quality institution such as American University! Do you have contacts to check into this game?

AU's OOC as of today: 11/10 at Kansas State 11/15 at West Virginia 11/25 VMI 12/6 at Western Illinois 12/21 at Marquette Would expect return games vs. Howard, UMES, St. Francis (PA) based on last year's schedule, but games are not yet officially scheduled. Honestly 70 it was the offense that Chip Kelly established at UNH. No one had really seen it before and we caught teams by surprise. Now we also had a kid named Ricky Santos who is probably the greatest QB in UNH history running the offense at the time. Once a lot of teams started running the open spread offense the UNH advantage went down hill and the depth of FBS teams and size proved to be too much. For example we got blown out by a bad San Jose State team the other year. Ricky Santos was a Massachusetts kid....he couldn't have been that good. No one thought he was when he arrived in Durham! He was the 4 th string QB and ended up in the history books.

I stand by what I said above. Not predicting a win but a much more competitive game than the blowout loss to Fordham. I would and do feel better about our chances in years going forward. We are starting to recruit and get players who have offers at the next level and with the enhanced schedule and the draw of the LAC, I believe the level of play on the field will improve significantly. You can only have 11 players on the field at a time. Having 2 deep talent should be plenty against I-A teams in an early season game. P.S. to UNH: How did your team win 5 in a row against the more powerful I-A teams? Honestly 70 it was the offense that Chip Kelly established at UNH. No one had really seen it before and we caught teams by surprise. Now we also had a kid named Ricky Santos who is probably the greatest QB in UNH history running the offense at the time. Here's an interesting rumor.... HC discussing hosting a promotional 'welcome' for the Railers during halftime of the Monmouth football game at Fitton in return for the Railers mutual cooperation on HE scheduling at the DCU. Sounds like an initial olive branch effort toward prospective initiatives that would follow to promote hockey at the DCU. I hope that is true as I think it's a shame this could not have been done this year. A great academic institution such as Holy Cross is a no brainer for Hockey East.

I think that all Cross fans need to remember their is a huge difference in an FBS program and an FCS. The size, speed and depth of FBS teams are a huge disadvantage for an FCS team. FCS teams will publish their two deep while the FBS has a three deep of talented athletes. Now I've been lucky enough to enjoy UNH winning 5 straight games over FBS competition but that hasn't happened in a while. It is a tough game and the best thing is to come out of it healthy, keep it close and collect the pay check and get ready for the next game.

Interesting that Portland, ME will join the ECHL next year giving teams in Worcester, Manchester and Portland. Before this I believe the closest travel was out to NY for Manchester. I know attendance this year for Manchester and last year was awful as they have kept the same prices when it was an AHL team but now with a lower quality project. Many nights there were fans dressed as seats attending the games. I'll be interested to see how Worcester embraces or does not embrace a lower level product then what they are use to.

Is the V16 a new vitamin or just another unnecessary post season tourney ? Ennema--on the all name first team with Albany projected to be in one of these silly tourneys, it looks as if Vermont will be predicted to win the AE. Vermont went 16-0 in conference play last year and are even better this year. I've read one reports prediction that UVM gets to the Sweet 16. They have a kid Anthony Lamb who was Mr. Basketball out of NY that was a man last year as a freshman and is just going to get better.

Don't know why this could not be Holy Cross or URI. Think the issue with UNH is they demand too much money from us in the neighborhood of 350k. This is especially true as in this facebook Q & A video, our AD Ryan Bamford talks about regional scheduling and specifically mentions the 3 game series with Holy Cross. The minus 5:30 mark so guessing between 41-43 minute mark. Football scheduling is the first question and we are scheduled out. Like I started this post, why aren't we playing Holy Cross. Q & A linkYes that is the lowest UNH will take to play a FBS school. I think more of the issue though is the chance of losing to UNH has stopped the game from happening. I know UNH has reached out several times since the movie bento FVS saying let's play and it's always no way.

Naples has almost no college sports buzz unless you are a Gator. [ I've seen a variety of Gators, Hurricanes and Seminoles.

Biggest problem New England is a pro sports region compared to down here in the South! I'm vacationing here in Naples and I can count on one hand the number of Pro Sports references I've seen here. Now I've seen hundreds of college sports references in supermarkets, bumper stickers, team gear etc. Just a completely different sports atmosphere here vs New England.
