Well, they didn't announce the signing of Wright until June. There are still plenty of unsigned '24 & portal players. At this point, for all we know they have commitments from additional players who have chosen not to post on X. I think tomorrow is the last day to submit a NLI for '24s, not sure how it works for transfers. It is the last day to submit a formal NLI, but I assume you know that there is no deadline for a 2024 athlete to commit and for Holy Cross to commit to giving them scholarship money. And there really is no deadline for transfers. I know Bucknell has a few new incoming players in the pipeline, but there’s been no announcement and I don’t think there will be one for a while.

If we are going to offer sports at the D1 level we should fully fund them. If that isn't possible don't offer the sport. It is a question about priorities and investment FWIW, there are not many D1 schools in the country that fully fund all sports. Even most schools in P5 conferences have sports that are not fully funded.

I meant to say broomed, not bloomed, as HC was swept today. I agree that baseball is a great college sport. The seats in the Fitton baseball stadium are more comfortable than the benches in the football and softball sections of Fitton Field as well as the benches in the Hart BB and hockey arenas. NIL for baseball would be great but each scholarship is $80,000 every year and must be paired with a women’s scholarship for a total of $160,000 every year and having just one full scholarship to divvy up might cause more problems than it solves. Coach K. is building the program, give him a chance. FB, Men's hockey, W.Lax, baseball were all contenders this year and WBB won the league. Things are looking up. I assume Holy Cross requires the scholarships to be endowed. That means it requires approximately $1.8 million to endow one scholarship. or approximately $3.6 million to endow one scholarship plus the matching Title IX scholarship.

From Draper Utah a suburb of SLC. School has 2300 students so I’m guessing it competed in largest schools division in Utah Taylor Feroah is 6-6 and I believe soon to graduate from Corner Canyon HS ,likely is the brother of Jaiden and also a big scorer Best known for having produced QB Zach Wilson.

In late March of this year, VC reported that he had four D2 offers: Alaska Anchorage, Dominican (CA), Montana State Billings and Western Oregon. Then his Green River coach reported a fifth D2 offer. There was no further activity until today’s Holy Cross announcement.

But we need to put scholarships into baseball no matter the cost Create an NIL for baseball to take care of the existing and future talent We are a school that needs to go above and beyond to support Football. Basketball, Baseball, and Hockey for men Lax, Hoops, Soccer, T&F, Softball for women Finance all other sports to be compliant with the NCAA Great effort this season by the baseball team, but in the years ahead the series with the academies shouldn't be close like it is today Literally no one in the Northeast cares about college baseball! I know many who care about it. If you don’t associate with sports fans, that doesn’t mean that no one does. Also, by now you should’ve learned the meaning of the word “literally”.

Older than Daigneault. This is awesome news. His name had been thrown around for the Bucks job recently, AIR. Wonder what his staff will look like. Ryan Frazier is a Bucknell alum, current assistant with New Orleans, and he overlapped with Lee on the Bucks' staff several years ago. Wouldn't be surprised if Lee hired him in Charlotte. DJ MacLeay is another Bucknell alum, who's an assistant with the Celtics. Maybe he takes on a bigger role in Charlotte with Lee. Both of them are certainly possibilities. A third possibility might be Bryan Bailey, an All-PL CG who graduated from Bucknell just prior to Lee arriving. Bailey played in Europe for 16 years before starting a coaching career. Over the past five years he has coached for Utah and then Atlanta. Bailey has a good reputation, and I’m sure he and Lee have crossed paths many times over the years.

A ruling or law that makes athletes at smaller schools into employees who are entitled to a minimum wage would likely be the end of college sports. Smaller schools lose tens of millions of dollars every year, supporting athletics, and they certainly couldn’t afford to lose many more tens of millions paying wages.

They were challenged somewhat for a decade by Rutgers, who got to the championship game five times between 1998 and 2007, culminating with a win over UConn in 2007.. UConn though DOMINATED the regular season going 16-0 in Big East play and Rutgers went 12-4. The Scarlet Knights caught them on a bad day in 2007. No one is claiming Rutgers was as good as UConn, but there was not a big gap between them that year. It should be noted that the 2007 Rutgers team ended up advancing to the championship game of the NCAA tournament, losing to Tennessee in the finals. in the national USA today/coaches poll, Rutgers ended up being ranked second in the country, ahead of UConn. . They were also ranked seventh in the country by Massey.

It is not a good trend for UConn to have such a big gap between themselves and the rest of the Big East. In other words, the league is not strong enough after the Huskies Has UConn ever really been challenged in the Big East from anyone besides Notre Dame?? They were challenged somewhat for a decade by Rutgers, who got to the championship game five times between 1998 and 2007, culminating with a win over UConn in 2007..

Why is there an NIL signing date? Isn’t that restraint of trade? Pretty sure that he meant May 15 is the date for signing a NLI. Of course that deadline is meaningless because players can still commit for many months after, and if they want, they can sign their own contract.

Good for her, good for Nova, good for Holy Cross to illustrate the quality of student athlete produced here. Holy Cross FB and BB grads are cleaning up in the last extra Covid season. Coaches have figured out what a good investment they are. They are able to continue academically and athletically I want to know the NILshe receives and we can judge/evaluate the relative value of translating HC academic/athletics to the next phase of their academic and athletic experiences after this year, there will be no more Covid fifth year players, so there will be very few examples of her type of transfer. I imagine the NL for female players at Villanova will not be very large.

Yes, that was my point (we get students and athletes from places like St Anthony's and Chaminade but not the better boys lax players...and it is not as if they and/or their parents have never heard of this place or don't think highly of this place or it is too far away or the name is too Catholic). I think a few schollie dollars might do the trick here and there. The girls lax team (with their 31 D-1 commits) at St Anthony's is number 1 in the nation...and the boys lax team is way down (lol) at number 6 in the nation this year. I presume that 31 is among all 4 classes, as women’s lax regularly provides many underclass commits. Obviously, still impressive. Lacrosse has much tougher recruiting rules than other D1 sports. Coaches cannot communicate directly with athletes until September 1 of their junior year. No offers can be made before that date, including offers made through a third-party. so it’s only juniors and seniors.

Portal is at 2023 after a few entries this afternoon. I don't know if they are the only school to have zero portalers but Herb Sendek's Santa Clara Broncos achieved that fete. I tried to cut and paste something that a Fairfield poster had cut and pasted to their board but it didn't work. According to Dr. Evan Miyakawa, PhD in Stats, the conference with the highest % of players enter the portal was the American at 48%, (101 players). Next was the MAAC at 47%, (78 players). The lowest by far at 16% was the PL with 28 entrants. Ivy was next to last at 26% with 35 entrants. A10 was at 32 % with 78 entrants and BE was nearby at 34%, (57 entries). For a complete ranking of the 32 conferences see the last current page of the transfer portal thread at www.scoutfairfield.com.

Holy Cross WBB doesn't have a penny of NIL to offer but they are the championship program on campus. If Coach Magarity doesn't land a key player in the portal, she really can't be blamed. The great majority of female players who come out of the portal will not get even a penny of NIL money,

Bucknell men’s lacrosse currently has about three scholarships although that is going to rise to about six over the next two years. Exactly my point, Bucknell has two NCAA berths in the 2000's and eight regular season patriot league championships in that time period. Holy Cross has none of those in their HISTORY. When Bucknell earned those NCAA berths, and when Bucknell won all of those regular season championships, they had exactly 0 scholarships. The first scholarships they ever gave for lacrosse were in the last two years. But it’s become a lot tougher to win without having a good number of scholarships. Beyond the money issue, Bucknell for many years was more successful than Holy Cross due to better facilities, a winning tradition, and incredible continuity of staff. As a matter of fact, Bucknell has had lacrosse for 58 years and has had two head coaches in that time. That has traditionally made recruiting much easier and also has created an incredibly loyal and supportive group of alums. But as I mentioned, it has gotten a lot tougher in recent years.

He's not just an ordinary player transferring from the PL. He was the conference's player of the year, and has two years left. Six figures, minimum, whether it's from a P6 school or slightly lower (Mountain West, A-10, MVC, maybe others). Wow - Is that where we are today? Six figure minimums from mid majors. I wonder how many of the programs making those payments bring in that kind of money we are not really talking about that kind of money being given out by mid majors, but rather by top 10 conferences. And Smith will be one of their more highly sought after prospects. Not every one of the players in those conferences is going to make six figures.

Those players like scholarship aid, too. Even a partial athletic scholarship is a bragging point over a walk on to a similar quality school. As I understand it, HC is pushed by one anti-discrimination measure, title nine, to discriminate against men's lacrosse schollies in favor of women's schollies. Not required to exactly but probably the best work around they can come up with. Although I doubt women's lacrosse has that much aid to give, they have some and the men have none I believe. I know some of the other teams in the conference are not fully funded.... Bucknell men’s lacrosse currently has about three scholarships although that is going to rise to about six over the next two years.

UConn backcourt very crowded if everyone is healthy next year. Paige, Azzi, Chen, KK Arnold, Ashlynn Shade, and incoming McDonald’s All American recruits in Allie Ziebell and Morgan Cheli. They could really use a dominant frontcourt player like Beers from Oregon Stare but she’s dragging her feet deciding between UConn and Oklahoma. Paige was playing the 3 this season anyways...I wouldn't expect her to change next year. Chen is better offensively than Arnold and Shade. Paige was nominally playing the three in a 3-guard offense. The only difference between her role and that of the two guard was due to her being a taller player with an ability to put the ball to the floor. She guarded the SF defensively because she was much taller than the other two UConn guards And a far better rebounder.

Does Smith project to be a high major prospect? Just how big of a bag will he warrant? he will definitely get a number of P6 offers.

Does he even have 2 years? One at HC. 2 at SBU...doesn't have the Covid bonus year, right? You are correct. Assuming he doesn’t get hurt early in the year, this will be his last season of college ball. He has no path to get an extra year.

If scores hold up from today’s games, Lehigh and Lafayette will almost assuredly be done. Bucknell will have finished the PL regular season at 12-13. So long as we finish with 12 wins, we’ll beat Bucknell with the head to head tiebreaker. Just a question of whether we are going to Annapolis or West Point now. Very likely. However, in the unlikely event of a three-way tie between Bucknell, Holy Cross, and Lafayette at 12–13, Bucknell actually would end up with the three seed, and holy Cross would end up with the four seed.
