Too many new buildings and capital investments. We need to focus on the endowment. First step should be a major revamp of the investment office (officer in particular). The returns are simply awful in this market. Holy Cross has a very difficult time keeping “back office” employees accountable (I know CIO isn’t quite back office but it seems to be in this case). The job is extremely attractive, time to change it up.

You are of course correct and the Bison have been the gold standard of the league for awhile. The league lacks big wins. Colgate has one this year, I think that is it. I enjoy following the league. The games are competitive. My only point is, as Jack Nicholson said, “Is this as good as it gets?” I think so. Well since it currently isn’t as good as it once was, I’d say you are wrong.

If Milan Brown were still around, things would be better. Maybe yes. But we’d be stuck as a 170-210 ranked team, likely with no championships. I hope we have higher aspirations than that.

So he gets credit for our PL Football Championship? By default, yes. Although chesney was not his 1st, 2nd or 3rd choice. Facts!

I am probably in denial but despite everything, I just don’t find this “acceptable” or “excusable.” Again, this is on (in no particular order): Carmody TPTB Nelson The assistant coaches The players generally Drew Lowder in particular Like they say about plane crashes almost never being a result of one cause, these results are due to a combination of causes. Come on. Obviously Pine is part of this.

URI is the worst CAA program throughout history and always underfunded Those two notions (URI possibly being a step up from HC pay-wise and URI a CAA cellar dweller in terms of football and pay ) may not be mutually exclusive. Beyond that , In the recent (last 5-10 years) world of FCS football, I could certainly see the argument that a move from PL OC to CAA OC is a step up. Football-wise. Not withstanding the fact that HC was the PL Champ this year and URI tends to be at or near the bottom of the CAA. No doubt if URI improves their record the next year or two, Murphy’s resume will likewise improve. (Remember, our W-L record also improved under Murphy). I’ve seen quite s few URI games and there is talent on the roster (they played some very close CAA games this September). Staying on a championship team with an up and coming coach that an of OC could effectively “latch onto” vs going to get paid equal (seemingly less?) money at a CAA team in turmoil, whose hiring head coach may not be around in 1 year’s time to re-hire said OC is, in my opinion, a step down. One would only make that move if someone forced one’s hand. Absolutely no bias here. What would you do? Logic says that staying at HC is the better move from a financial stability and career trajectory standpoint. Would you latch yourself onto Chesney or 15-53 Jim Fleming?

The team finished in last place in the PL last year and lost its three best players. The “it’s not his players” thing is far less important than the simple fact that there is a serious dearth of D1 talent on the roster. And of the few players who actually might play elsewhere, none of them knew anything about defense and rebounding at the D1 level prior to Nelson being hired in July. There you go again. The team did not lose its three best players. Your stubbornness with the anti-Butler narrative is really getting old. The team absolutely lost its 3 best players.

"Sacred Heart, according to Massey, is favored by 6 points ." We’re ranked 10 teams above the worst team in the country. Are you surprised?

Kearney started 0-6. Milan Brown started 0-8.
Things are bad right now, but let's not act like we've never been in this particular hole before.
Even with Kearney and Brown, though, there was a decent amount of talent on that roster at the guard and forward positions. This roster needs a lot of work done to it to make it a competitive PL team, once again. I wonder if HCBN knew just how big of a rebuild he had on his hands. When he took the job, mind you, Green and Grandison were still at HC. It must be a really bad feeling then a really good one, no? He gets to literally build a program from the ground up. No expectations.

Considine will be the starter next year. We will have a better offense next year. It’s all a little weird to me. Degenhardt is the starter all season. Is named Second Team All PL (I don’t put much credence in this because PL offenses and QBs weren’t all that great). But is then benched in the playoffs after two bad early drives. I’m not saying I disagree with that decision because the offense clearly was better with Considine, but I wonder why this move wasn’t made at an earlier point in the season during the many times the offense sputtered. I also wonder what would have happened if Considine played every series of today’s game. One thing is for sure — open competition for QB1 heading into spring ball. Do we know for a fact that considine has 1 year remaining at hc? If so I imagine he’ll have a chance as a graduate transfer no?

Endow a higher salary for Chesney. Will buy a few more years. Chesney has done a very nice job at HC, but this is quite the overreaction. He's 12-8 against 1-AA teams, with only two of those wins coming against teams who finished .500 (5-5 Yale last year, 6-5 UNH this year), and the total record of teams he's beat at 40-81 (.331). I understand the purple-shaded glasses, but Chesney is not getting a call for a significantly better job than HC after these two years, and if he was, a higher salary likely wouldn't stop him. Chesney's best work so far has been in recruiting and he has only coached one class in their Freshman year. Unless he is desperate to get out of town (which it doesn't seem like he is), he would be crazy not to stick around for more of his recruits and the chance for a real jump to the next level. What was the total record of the teams that TG beat in 2009? A loss to sacred heart? Oh my I prefer hc be proactive and not reactive. Pay him what he’s worth. You’d rather talent walk out the door?

Congrats to the 2019 Patriot League Champs. Hopefully this will serve as a great opportunity to land offensive recruits and a new OC that will push the program to new heights. Great year by Scott James and his young defensive squad. Interested to see how we stack up in the FCS Playoff. But Gilmore played at penn and chesney wasn’t even all league at Dickinson!!! “Hahaha”

Why is it an attractive job? I like to hear this explanation! I would absolutely put it in the bottom 20 percent of jobs in the country. There are, what, 60 D1 head coaching jobs available? That, alone, would make it relatively attractive to a prospective coach. Exactly. The worlds a big place. Lots of great hockey minds/talent, not a lot of jobs. Especially ones that pay a decent wage.

ADMB has some decisions to make with men’s soccer and men’s hockey. Hockey decision is easy. He’s not getting it done and we have the sample size to prove it. It’s a very attractive job.
