could be totally irrelevant Yes it could, but there are posts suggesting he might be getting little (or no) financial aid. Full pays at $70,000 a year are not coming to HC if their family's income is $75,000 a year. Are you familiar with loans at all...or non athletic aid for that matter...or academic merit?

Who got under center? Lafayette Who incorporated TE Trades and Motion To Get Numbers At Point of Attack? Lafayette HC is full of a bunch of JV coaches on the offensive side of the ball that refuse to change or evolve. Lafayette is 2-7. Chesney is going to have to call his dog, "Champ", after this game? hahahahaha. You’re kind of a nut case...

Officiating in last 10 resembled College Park last night but that’s what happens when you get a nice paycheck-MSM with 900 students played well 900 students? It’s 2k plus

Expect it for sure with the higher level of recruit we are now pursuing. The staff may have half-expected this. Why else would you recruit two strong QBs in the same class given no redshirting and FCS roster constraints. Because of scollie constraints, HC is basically limited to 10-11 full scollies every year, unless one does as Lehigh did before TG, load up on the fulls, and pray. It’s not out of the ordinary to recruit two strong qb’s in the same class. Would you rather us recruit 1 strong qb and 1 weak one?

I’ve heard from reliable sources that Butash is lacking in some qb fundamentals to play at this level - he needs time I'll respond with the fact I'm biased... But that's a pretty vague statement. I've been hearing pretty good things of late. Obviously, CD has the position and doing ok, so a freshman sits the bench. But lacking QB fundamentals. I'd like more details. It’s college football. Expect to see these types of posts.

A minor quibble about how we ended yesterday’s game. After Riley’s interception, we had the ball on the five yard-line with :49 remaining and Lehigh had two timeouts remaining. There was no reason to get into shotgun formation and run the ball. All we needed to do was have three kneel downs take us to :40 and the clock would have run out. If we assume that a snap, kneel and timeout would take three seconds... 1st down takes it to :46. Lehigh uses their second timeout. 2nd down takes it to :43. Lehigh uses their third timeout. 3rd down takes it to :40 — game over. Now, even if there is a second or two difference between the game clock and play clock on 4th down, we could easily just snap the ball and run out of the back of the end zone. Take the safety. No time left. Game over. How often have we seen (Albany) weird things happen that have lost us games over the years. There was no reason to run the ball and allow Lehigh to tackle us inside our own five yard-line. Imagine if Cozier had fumbled the ball? While unlikely, there’s still a chance. Game wouldn’t end on a safety, would it? I imagine there would be an untimed punt play?

Nearly 11K at a Fitton this afternoon. Wow. Was the crowd really that big? Can’t remember the last time we had that kind of crowd for a non-Homecoming game. Back to back 10k attendances (first since?). Between those and Navy and Syracuse, a lot of people have set eyes on Holy Cross football this year.

So we should ensure students get no exposure to it?

I don't know that it would lend itself to a dorm space, but maybe there's a hotel/function space play there?
This would be very smart. I'm actually a little surprised HC has not developed something like this. It would make for a great revenue stream and I have to imagine it wouldn't be all that difficult to fill the rooms, especially during the academic year. Having stayed at the Hannover Inn (Darmouth), Morris Inn (Notre Dame) and Colgate Inn, it's really nice having a nice hotel to stay in on campus. Student run hotel re: Cornell.

Replace Spread ‘Em and Shred ’Em with a competent OC. Get the ball in Cozier, Ayeni, and Asante’s hands as much as possible. Don’t lose to FHCHCTG. I would love to see HC in hockey east, but realistically, can HC recruit good enough players who can be very good hockey east players? So many of the the top players in that league leave early for the NHL, and are coming from Junior hockey programs, not top academic prep schools. They use the league as a stepping stone to the NHL..HC just might be a perennial bottom dweller, and it would take years to build a program that could compete..HC would be the top academic school in Hockey East by far! However I did hear FADNP say about Hockey East, "Not if but when".... Sorry but turns out FADNP was wrong more often than right. Not jealous of Air Force!

Non-PL but UNH won at Stony Brook 20-14....UNH win looking bettah and bettah...
Yale though, blown out at Dartmouth 42-10 Navy beating Tulsa 28-10 So UNH is 4-2 including 3-0 in the CAA. That brings to mind this gem below from our old friend 4Crusader3 after the UNH game "In all honesty, I think UNH struggles to win 3 games this year and has a tough time in the CAA. That's not meant to take anything away from HC, just an observation."
Is Pride ok?

(An essential ingredient in the AI process is the determination of the school-wide AI.) What do you mean by that? Because Loyola MD has a lower school wide AI, can they get kids qualified academically that other PL schools can’t?

I agree. Reading Crossports I am learning that HC has more challenges than I thought. Many of the facts and figures compiled on this board (thanks PP) draw a picture of HC not keeping up with Patriot League peers. The new facilities are awesome but spending on each sport is usually below average for the league. And it is hard to keep raising tuition more than the CPI. I wonder if Baby Boomer alums will be as generous to HC as the Greatest Generation alums who helped grow the endowment a hundred fold? That is an interesting final point. I get Villanova mailings and speak to Villanova alums quite frequently. They had a spectacular fundraising capital campaign (here) with a goal of 600 Million by mid 2018 and instead reached that goal in 2016 and wound up raising something like 750 Million. That, of course, was primarily capital expenditures (although a portion did reportedly double Villanova's not-so-large endowment).
The word I've got is that many VU grads have struck it rich in NYC finance and are (and will be) giving back - and this will eventually increase their endowment (now that their building spree is nearing an end) . Is there a possibility that our more recent (last 40 years or so) grads have not been as numerous or as business oriented (at a macro level) so that will hinder future efforts to raise our endowment v some other schools? (I apologize in advance to one or two posters who don't react well to Villanova examples in admissions, sports, or otherwise.)
Where did the notion come from the HC grads are generally not in business?

I agree with this assessment...not more than a handful of our teams since 1981 would be better than 1-3 at this point. Offense is an issue, but let's see how they look the next couple of weeks. There are a lot of past teams with this schedule that would have scored more than 14 offensive touchdown points over 16 quarters of play.. lol can you be specific for me please. Sounds like a challenge to our SOS. The grass is always greener truly huh.

The offensive ineptitude is a combination of CD simply not having an ability to make certain throws and stretch the field, along with Chesney / Murphy not willing to be remotely imaginative on offense — probably a result of CD’s limitations and Chesney’s run-first philosophy. That has all added up to two offensive touchdowns and 26 points by the offense in 16 quarters. If the offense sputters against Bucknell, Chesney absolutely needs to change things up with either personnel or the guy who is calling plays. If this is year 2 of this offense, what does year 3 look like? Are we going to pray for Chris Butash or a true freshmen to run this heavy RPO/Air Raid system next year? The current offensive scheme is repetitive, unimaginative, and requires no adjustment for the opposing defense. In my opinion, the current "tool" box being offered is setting these kids up for failure, regardless of who takes snaps. What? Year 3...prob better? What? Chris Butash...probably CD?

This Syracuse team is not in the top half of the ACC, and for good reason. Maryland put up 63 points on them, and yesterday Maryland lost to PSU 59-0. I saw Deandrade again talking with the offense. He is listed as the cornerbacks coach. HC total offense appears to be 138 yards. + So team A beat team B who beat team C and you conclude Syracuse isn’t a top half acc team from that? Do you watch sports? Lol

Ah, that's cute....You like to call them "UMess." It's been a decade since Holy Cross won more than six games in a season, but somehow you still have the gall to take potshots at two neighboring universities whose football teams would still stomp Holy Cross on the field, and are actually trying to compete at the highest level? Your pompous attitude might be a reason why much of Central Mass hates Holy Cross. Hopefully Holy Cross can beat mighty Bucknell this season and atone for that crushing loss from a year ago. And guess what? With the new bowl game at Fenway, there will be more college games there in the coming years. Guess who will be playing in them? Probably the two public universities from New England in FBS that are looking for ways to market and grow their brand, and the game (other than Harvard-Yale which won't ever happen again) that gives the Red Sox the most bang for their buck, certainly more than Dartmouth-Brown. www.gazettenet.com/UMass-football-suspends-six-players-for-violation-of-team-rules-28887845
