Immediate goals for program over next 5 years: 1. Consistently compete for and Win PL title 2. Win playoff games 3. Schedule as many FBS games as possible, preferably in other parts of the country. This will deliver the HC brand to more recruits in other regions. 4. Play well in FBS games. We did vs. UConn. BC will he more difficult. Syracuse will be difficult. Army is a game that go either way, but is certainly a winnable game. A sincere question: Is this official doctrine?I'm new here and I'm sure I've missed a lot. Based on what I've seen the last few years, I would say yes. Me personally, I'd be very happy just to achieve #1. As someone said, beware of elegant plans. Don't want to be negative, but are kids in the rest of the country want to play here if they see us getting our asses handed to us? Are we too good for the Patriot League? If we win the PL championship, let's say, five times in a row, then I'll say yes..

Didn't Nathan Pine get ahead of himself by scheduling FBS BC, Syracuse, Navy, UCONN before being able to win consistently in the Patriot League? Don't mean to sound negative, but wouldn't you agree there's a better than 50/50 chance we're headed for a embarrassing ass-whupping? Pine's gifts as a marketer/promoter/fundraiser are undeniable. Will he show the same talent for the basic blocking and tackling of being an AD, hiring great coaches? For inspiration read this story about Rick Carter's hiring: abcnews.go.com/Sports/tragic-tale-heisman-underdog/story?id=44016559. Keeping Tom Gilmore around years after he should have been let go isn't reassuring. A buddy of mine's son was an offensive line coach under Gilmore, and this kid got the hell out of there after two seasons because of Gilmore's temper. NP's head coach hire will probably determine whether Holy Cross's 121 year football tradition continues. Pine's legacy will depend on it. Nothing would make us all happier than NP becoming a legendary figure at HC because he returned the football program to glory. He's gifted at fundraising. Let him raise a s***load of money to pay a great coach!
