We finished 6th of 9 schools in the PL Championship in NJ today. I don’t follow crew closely but I would have thought we’d be closer to the top of the league which does include GU and MIT in this sport, both finishing ahead of us

Yes, o’Connor is realistic about FCS football and its limitations. Definitely hoping Nova follows suit. That $500,000 NIL men’s bball investment at UR is amazing

Nova is like Richmond, an associate member in CAA for football only. W&M is an 'all sports' member of the CAA. They would have to move all of their sports to the PL and they're not interested in that (for now)

Heard last evening from coach Magarity that Cara is headed to Drexel for her grad year - joining AU’s Molly Lavin there. CAA is a marginally better league than the PL - good luck to Cara Also, no landing spot so far for Janelle

About 75 or so attended last evening in Norwalk - we had about 20 of our 26 head coaches there - lots of enthusiasm after the success of many teams during the 23-24 season

Spent time with coach Kahovec last night in Norwalk - he was a popular guest given the successful season - already looking forward to the ‘25 season hopefully with fewer injuries

Maybe Koolman was announced as a coach to appear but I spoke with an attendee from last night and he said Koolman was not there. Maybe he missed him or he indeed was not present

It's mid May and there's been some admissions discussion on the Richmond football thread - wondering if there's any info on the final acceptance rate / yield / size of next freshman class

It was easy for Richmond to make the move because they were only associate CAA members for football (all other sports in A-10) Much more complicated for Wm and Mary because they're all sports members of the CAA, and the league would certainly not let them leave for football only

Every game has a winner and a loser - someone has to lose the games to the stronger teams - this year it's Miami among the blue-bloods of the ACC
Going back to BC, I see Mudd did pitch 3 strong innings on Sunday vs. Maryland so maybe he's back to 100 pct. Eagles final home game is today vs. Georgetown.

With an eight team league this has a positive scheduling factor - with seven, each team had a Saturday with a bye or non-league opponent, often at the end of the season. Now, like the Ivy, we're 8 teams which makes 4 league games most Saturdays - much cleaner. (I wonder which ooc opponent in '25 will be dropped by HC and will there be a cost?)

The Spiders' travel budget will probably be increased - closest eastern Pa schools are about 320 miles from Richmond and on a Friday that's a very long bus ride through congested highways (same for Fordham) - assuming games at Colgate and HC will always be via air. Is it possible they will have to fly to all league road games (exc GU) ?

With portal / transfer season winding down I'm surprised we haven't added anyone and seem to be headed into 24-25 with 11 schollie (plus 1 walk-on) players. Thought we'd have some momentum coming off the great finish to the season but it seems the coach is concentrating on the incoming class for 2025.

Colgate forum with this update on their '24 recruiting: 'We just signed a 7’0” from Canada: Cam Brennan. Not a bruiser but can really get up and down the court. Nice touch. '

He had injuries while at HC and seems to have run into the same problems at BC - he pitched very well early in the season. They need to win a game or two at Clemson this weekend (a tall task) to qualify for the ACC tourney - will be interesting if Mudd is available

AWP also comes from behind to win game 3, 6-5 Gotta appreciate how tough academy athletes are. Navy at Army this weekend for the title

BC and Pitt have the worst ACC records at 8-19 The next worst is ND at 9-18 - it’s not a coincidence that the 3 northern tier schools have the worst records - spring sports (even those funded with schollies) often have a tough time

Great Isobor 6’8” F from Utah St. Just committed to univ of Washington for his senior season. ‘verified’ NIL deal for $2 million. Turned down similar offers other Power 5 schools. It’s getting more out of control every day. I hope Washington fails to make the NCAA tourney

With a natural grass field (almost unheard of in NE) and the simple fact of where the school is located makes baseball a questionable place to invest. Playing 39 of 53 games on the road this year was a burden. I support a robust recruiting budget and continue to prove we can be very competitive at this level (sans schollies).

Agree. Using two of our weaker relievers in Fletcher and Walters was strategic- more than those three arms available in game 3 ‘win or go home’
