ATC recording of November 8.. (Also gives an indication of the size of a traveling party at the Power Four level.)

Unbelievable. I hope no one was seriously hurt and that the "combatants" face some discipline for this.

The combatants should go to jail Just more of Bruce Paul recruits. He has always sacrificed character for ability to put the ball in the hoop. That is why in at least two of his college jobs, he was penalized for cheating in recruiting.

An appropriate response from the FAA would be to ground the team and they can travel by bus or train the rest of the season and then reinstate flying privileges for next season if no fights occur on ground based transportation.

I wonder if they were fighting over a bag of money.

The players were fortunate in that they apparently didn't touch any of the flight crew. I assume there were two flight attendants for what I assume were two exit doors. That would then be a Federal felony.

I think for any unplanned landing there has to be an FAA investigation - whether or not hands were laid on any of the flight crew.
Two players forced this plane to land somewhere other than it's planned destination. This is federal and not something the sports friendly local officials will be able to sweep under the carpet
I am not sure if this will land the entire team on some no fly list. The fact that this was a charter and not a commercial flight might mean that the chartering group could be held accountable for the actions of the individuals in their group, but I'm guessing that is unlikely from the FAA.
I am fairly certain unruly passengers that cause an unplanned landing will be arrested. I do not know what the penalty for that crime is. (jail, fine, no fly list ?)

I know it is a stretch, but just perhaps, Auburn should act first and expel the two culprits.

Auburn beat Houston by five, so nobody is getting kicked off the team.

Auburn beat Houston by five, so nobody is getting kicked off the team. It has been reported that the two players involved did not travel to Houston on the second flight

Then I will reverse course and say that the chances are good that there was no plane sent to pick those two kids up and take them home

Yeah, he was definitely in on the fight. Surprised there weren’t 12 players roughing him up.

Yeah, he was definitely in on the fight. Surprised there weren’t 12 players roughing him up. #3 was one of the players in the fight. The other one was #8 who was not the guy reigning 3's. Nothing like hanging your head in disappointment after a team mate is helping you run up the score. The Vermont game was on Wednesday. Wouldn't it have been better for the team to have the fight in conjunction with Thursday's practice? No one would have known and this would be a non-story

People make mistakes. I'm sure the guilty parties are beyond embarrassed by the fallout from this.

A fight on an airplane which makes the pilot land the plane shortly after takeoff and endangers lives is far more than a mistake.

People make mistakes. I'm sure the guilty parties are beyond embarrassed by the fallout from this. There are mistakes and there are mistakes. A quick google search says these two are lucky that jail is not a penalty for this. Looks more like a $37,000 fine and whatever costs the the carrier chooses to go after you for to cover the incurred expenses. Best my quick google search shows is that an FAA no fly list is not a penalty, although the carrier frequently bans the unruly passengers from their flights. I am going to ASSUME that Auburn is a major customer of this charter company and if the company is made financially whole, they won't ban the players at the risk of losing a major customer. I hope you are right that the players are beyond embarrassed. I have a pet peeve about society that star athletes from an early age are taught rules don't apply to them and don't care about their actions because there is too frequently no consequences. They should be beyond embarrassed, but it's equally likely they're more annoyed about all these consequences over a trivial little flare up

Not to mention the adult in all of this, Bruce Pearl. Maybe he has that attitude as well.

Yeah, but isn't this a reason that NILs was invented? The embarrassment factor would be ten times more at Holy Cross than Auburn. Those two students would be on a Greyhound bus to a Community College with a good basketball program.
