CG is shorter than PB, fwiw Great. Let's hope he's the caddy for PB for quite a while, not on the floor with him.

Doubtful, perhaps the same size That's how he looks to me - file the suggestion otherwise under "alternative facts."

I've stood next to both... seem to be the same height; PB is thicker as you would expect

Sounds a lot like the guy at Bucknell right now. Jrs & Srs are not his, sophs may or may not be (he got hired in March of the year those kids came in; consider KC vis-à-vis MP; maybe there's a JP or two that chose to go elsewhere as well). Freshmen definitely his. Team was good before he arrived and is doing as well as that, save for that bump-in-the-road last March. A pretty big bump, until he wins one when he is top seed. bison fans may be concerned after last night. If they are worried, perhaps we can work out a trade? I'll take the guy in his early 40s with a .750 winning percentage over 7 3/4 seasons as a Head Coach, and who was on the staff of one of the top 2 coaches in PL history, as the team was on the best run in PL history.

I watched Caleb and Patrick play against each other at Worcester Academy in the final of the Thomas Blackburn Invitational. Patrick was a PG and Caleb was a sophomore at the time. Although similar in size, Caleb is a step quicker and a deeper shooter than Patrick. Both are very good defensively and both can take it to the rim off the dribble very nicely. There should not be any problem with Caleb playing alongside Patrick.

So you are counting the years when he coached players he inherited from his predecessors ? Yes, just like you can include those years for Carmody to get his career winning percentage UP to .527. Davis actually improved at Randolph Macon in years 5 & 6 with a winning percentage of .823 and a trip to the D3 Elite 8 in his final year, and he also didn't just take over for a coach that had invented the system that he was going to run. I really don't understand what's so difficult to understand about Carmody's first two years at Princeton being such an aberration from every other year in his carreer (a substantial sample size), and then connecting the dots to see that the vast, vast majority of the production on those first two teams came from guys who were brought in by Carril and taught the PO by Carril.

Are you really counting coaching wins in D3 the same as D1? Were all of those D3 players recruited by him? 2. The system that Bucknell uses. Who invented it? Or, is it totally new? (unlikely)

(unlikely) 1A) Not equating the wins, just saying that he's won 75% of the games that he's coached, against whatever competition he's faced. That is an impressive number. 1B) He would have recruited every player on the roster during his 5th and 6th years when he won 82% of his games. 2) I imagine that Nathan Davis has adapted different elements from the coaches that he has worked with to come up with his system, and I imagine it is quite different from what Paulson was doing. The argument is not that Nathan Davis is equal to a combination of Mike K, Tom Izzo, and Phil Jackson, but rather than John Hardt appears to have taken Nate Pine to the cleaners when comparing the coaching searches that each performed two years ago. Given the state of our program, and the amount of recruiting, player development, and energy that was and is necessary, all indications are that Nathan Davis would have been a much better fit.

1) Carm won PL title in year ONE. 9 other PL coaches wish they did. Won a play-in game. Red Auerbach in his prime (or even the Wizard of Lewisburg Nate Davis) could have been coaching HC last yr, and Oregon would have still won by 30.
2) How about we wait another month and really see how this season shakes out in the games that matter before declaring anyone who was realistically available would have a better fit
3) I'm of the belief that NP wanted a coach who wasn't looking to move on to a better job the second he walked into the Hart, and Carm is not. Others would be.

Since in actuality we have Carmody and your scenario is hypothetical, we will never know. You believe what you believe but others believe differently and neither they nor you can prove your position is correct. You are entitled to your opinion and others theirs.
I'm fine with Carmody and I may well have been fine with Nathan Davis but I'll go with the guy we got. I think our program is stronger and will be stronger still in the coming years. That's my opinion.

I think it's a moot point anyway. Davis had ties to Bucknell and was inheriting an overall much better situation (players, facilities, recent success).
Knock Carmody all you want and you will continue to do so incessantly, I'm sure. But Mr. Davis wasn't going to be coaching Holy Cross.

In evaluating Coach Carmody's record at Princeton (the jury is in re: Northwestern) should we take into account that he played a tougher schedule than his predecessor?

Others would be. 1) That was a fun 4-game stretch last March, but it looks like more and more of a fluke and distant memory with each passing dreadful performance. 2) The PL Tournament are the only games that matter? That's nonsense. 3) Absolutely laughable, because (a) Pine is trying to do the same thing himself, and (b) if someone does a good enough job turning HC around that they would be hired for a better job, then that is a very good thing for HC.

I think that Davis has shown that he is a good coach and should be credited with winning the PL regular season and with leading the PL now. But in his biggest game, as the #1seed he lost to the #9 seed at home( even though one of 4 "flukey" wins)

But Mr. Davis wasn't going to be coaching Holy Cross. Why not? He was coaching a D2 school and available when we were going through our coaching search.

We hired Carmody on March 18, 2015. Bucknell hired Davis on April 19, 2015.
I would be curious to learn whether Nathan Davis was on Pine's list.
