While a move to Big East would be a boon for UConn basketball and perhaps other sports, it would be an embarrassment to the state as a whole after all the effort and resources that were dumped into the football team and stadium. Not sure where they would land, perhaps MAC or Conference USA.
In terms of how this affects HC, doesn't seem farfetched that UMass would replace them in order for the AAC to retain a New England presence, with the A10 needing a replacement for them. HC/BU/Northeastern would figure to be in the discussion as natural geographic successors.

Why would umass go to the AAC ? Because UMass plays FB as an independent, and unless your name in ND or BYU, as an indy you are relegated to 40 point ass kickings by P5 schools on the road and playing complete stiffs filling out their sked who no one cares to see at home. They would jump at the chance to park FB in the AAC, and perhaps all sports as well.

Seems like a good move for UConn. Bad for football but UConn football is bad anyway and the AAC is making everything else (except women's hoops until Geno retires) bad too. They should join the CAA like Villanova for football and cut their losses.

the BE should be facilitating this move as much as possible. I see their basketball influence nationally waning, with traditionally strong east coast programs slipping, such as georgetown, st john's and seton hall. only 'nova is holding up the east coast with the midwest schools benefiting from the league. this would be a bitter pill to swallow but uconn just has to find an 'fbs' league that will accept a football only affiliation. (their dreams of an invite from the big 10 or acc have to end.)
